Gas coming out of carb? but runs great...

Recently rebuilt my 2001 200hp ob Merc.
Engine runs great. On the first start of the day it turn over for a while before it fires up.
Other than that, starts on a 1/4 turn.
However., I've noticed gas which appears to be coming out of the plastic carb cover (as far as I can tell). Usually shows up before I get her going, or after I'm done. Sounds like a stuck or sticking float to me. I was looking for any other input.
Keep in mind that my entire carb assembly was sitting around in my garage for the winter before I put it back together (the reeds on one side, the carbs on the other...)
What do you think?
Greg.

That would be my guess. But I used to get some gas up front too when I'd store my engine tilted way up. A little gas would run out of each carb then also.

My gas tank appears to have a fuel pump.
If that were to stop operating would the engine still start and/or run.
If so. Could this be why my first start is a real cranker?

Pull your air box off and run it... see if any carb (or carbs) are puking the gas out with the motor level. Chances are it's just some "snot" stuck in the needle valve and the float can't stop the fuel.

FYI: Make sure your motor has the correct merc inline fuel filter on the motor... the "cheepie" AUTO ones sometimes "shed" filter media causing problems like this...

thanks jrumon

I checked the carbs. Gas coming from all the carbs equally. Possible a stuck needle. but what are the chances that all the needles are sticking.

help?
