Hello from Punta Gorda, new to Checkmate!

Just got a Trimate I with an Evenrude 135 and thought I would introduce myself to the forum. While I was not intentionally looking for a Checkmate, I’m glad I found it. The little boat just fell into my lap for $1000.00 bucks. It seems to be the perfect little boat for the Peace River and so far it’s been super fun to own. I thought it was quick till I started reading about other boats on this forum then realized that mine may need some assistance to run the way that it should. So 42 on the GPS I think is a bit shy of this boats potential. I’m hoping that while I have no tilt or trim, I could be able to get this boat to run 50MPH or so. I’m looking at upgrading my worn out 13x15 aluminum prop to a 13x21 in hopes of picking up a few more miles per hour. I hope to get some pictures up tonight so you guys can check her out. Anyhow, this seems like a great forum to be a part of from what I have been reading. I have a lot of research to do, so let the research begin!

Welcome to the forum......

There are a lot of picture whores on this forum {me included} so post up some pics as soon as you can.
There are quite a few people in the forum that are experts with getting the most out of the outboard boats, after they start chiming in I'm sure your gonna find out pretty quick how to get that Trimate past the 50mph mark.

Good luck, can't wait to see pics

Welcome to our madness!! A 21 pitch will work wonders for the speed of that boat. I had a Trimate with a 1400 Merc that I believe ran in the upper 50s. Factory speedometer had it at 62 but dont know how accurate it was. Trimate is a fun and good all around boat and I would love to get another one some day. Good luck!

Thanks for the warm welcome! This is the one picture I have on my phone, but plan to post more soon. This info has been very helpful, I reasearch every chance I get in hopes of getting this boat up to par. Since I have no tilt or trim, I'm looking at the Solas HR Titan SS 4 Blade 13x21" I read that it is a good choice for high speed hulls. I may be going that route since I don't want to loose my hole shot. It's very shalow in my neck of the woods, so getting out of the water quick is very important to me. Any one try this prop?
