HELP!!! Float bowl on carb fell off?????

I was out on the boat with my wife yesterday. We took the boat out on to Lake Ontario for the first time. It was kinda rough, but the lil' 93' Fantasy F-13 handled like a champ..... was a bumpy ride though.

We came back into the pond, started going around the pond a bit, and then the engine started acting like it was running out of gas and shut off on me. I opened the engine cover, to find the float bowl unhooked and the gas had spilled all out of it.

The bowl was still attached, but dropped down about half an inch.... the center screw was still there, but I can't get it to seal back up.

Is there a seal between the bowl and the carb? Did that get destroyed somehow? Why do you think I can't lift the bowl up into place? It is looking as though I might have to take the carb off to fix. I tried to hand tighten the float bowl screw in hopes to suck it back up into place..... but that wasn't helping much.

Any ideas? How does that float bowl hook on? Should there be a gasket? Do you think the rough water didn't help it any?

I noticed before heading out to the Lake, the boat was running about 6MPH under its top speed. I thought that was strange...... Maybe the float bowl wasn't totally tight at that point?

Any ideas, please help!

I have never seen a float bowl that didn't have a gasket or O-ring better order a new one and install it before you wind up with smoke on the water.

Hey Coop!

That was on the Force..... still haven't obtained a larger engine yet. The 80HP Chrysler is just sitting in the lot, waiting for the guy to get the paperwork for it. The Chrysler turns over, has spark, so I don't imagine it would be too hard to get up and running. Not to mention is also has power trim/ tilt. Decent for $300 bucks for the trailer / boat / and engine.

I'll just sell my 40HP to recoupe the money.

Someday.......

Anyways, I fixed the float bowl. It appears as though the screw on the bottom of it just came loose somehow. I tighted it back up nicely, we'll see Sunday how it runs.
