So is that a no to interior and engine pics?
A 350 .040 over with a 400 crank is not a 383...........![]()
More cubes = More power = More money, just ask any used car salesman
With 8:1, why are you running 92 octane? You could run 86 economy. Plus with the aluminum heads, they will dissipate the head reducing any chance of detonation.
Might scare off buyers if they think it needs 92+![]()
The heads are small chamber 64 cc, also the block was line bored and decked, so I figured the true compression ratio at about 9:1 with dish pistons also the steep drop off ramps on the lobes of a roller cam increase compression because the valve stays fully open longer and snaps shut faster. Also a true 383 I believe is a .030 over 350 with a 400 crank. This motor is probably a 385 cu. in. As far as fuel, I have seen a lot of burned pistons in the last 5 years on boat motors. Lot of detonation failures. Best to err on the conservative side with todays fuel. We only run the timing at 34 degrees and keep the carb a little on the fat side, then just dial the boat in to rpm from there. Pump premium and if you HAVE to buy gas on the lake, we take a bottle of octane booster and try to fill up at 1/2 tank. This present combination makes a ton of power for a small block with stock exhaust, we were not looking for anything radical, just something reliable that would plane off fast with 4 or 5 people and still run 70 ish. It took a lot of work to set it up right and straighten it out. Everybody has their own opinion if you go to a coffee shop with mine you will still need 2 bucks for a cup of coffee!A 350 .040 over with a 400 crank is not a 383...........![]()

DUH ! Got caught up in the gearhead thing, will try to get some posted tomorrow night !!!!!So is that a no to interior and engine pics?
You have to be careful now-a-days with an 11:1 motor. With todays pump fuel you never know for sure what you are getting. Now-a-days, you see V-8 motors stick rings and score cylinders just like 2 cycle snowmobile engines. On the flip side, there is nothing like a high compression motor for power on the 'big end' of the rpm range !!!! I tend to cam motors now to develop as much torque and HP on the lowest RPM's possible, then gear everything to compensate.Yep, a 383 is .030 over and .040 over makes it a 385.
I ran 91 octane in my 383 with 11:1 cr, Ernson aluminum heads and one off cam. It made a conservative 500hp according to ernson. 34* timing total timing. It was a beast to say the least. Ran upper 70's before I ran into hydrodynamics issues with the outdrive. I am putting it into the new enchanter this winter and it should run low 80's.
Long story short, the stroker SBC makes a great boat motor!
SOLD, look for this boat at the Hardy Dam in Michigan, thats where it went. The guy that bought it got a smokin' deal. The boat is all dialed in and ran great. The kid bought a 23 ft. Warlock with a 489 Cu. In. BBC. from his cousin reasonable so everybody's happy ! Thanks for the help I'll be back with some pic's of some of our stuff as soon as it all runs and things slow down a little been a smokin' busy summer!!!!!!!!You have to be careful now-a-days with an 11:1 motor. Close, if we added up all the reciepts, the guy got a killer motor with a free boat ! Thats usually the way it goes ! That must be why boating is so much fun ?????Nice! Bought a boat and paid for his tax bill huh?
Glad it sold for you finally, did he pay the 6900.00?
