:bounce:Hi, i'm from up in Sudbury, ON.
Looking at having a 1980 15ft Checkmate w/65hp merc follow me home tomorrow, only.....

This owner said he had issues with the old deck and took it off and made a bass boat out of it. Now I'm thinking in comparing it to a boat being sold elsewhere that it is/was a v-mate I. Would this be correct?

now with only a 65hp on it, it should still clip along pretty good right? Any problems i should look out for?

the high chairs can be removed and the ski pole and restraints can be installed.

here what i think it was:

Welcome to the board!

I think it was a V-mate, also... at one time.

Well I own it now..... Looks like the guy i bought it from was off on the date a bit....
hull# CHK11673M77K -- that would make it a 1977
65hp merc # 7073666 --that would make it a canadian market 1976

Anyway, asides from a little bit of cleaning, and some wiring, everything else seems good.

well-- its a shame he did that to a 'mate...on the other hand it does look like a very good quality conversion... would probably actually make a very good fishing boat. to each his own

Defenetly a V-Mate-I I also have a 77'. Mine came with the cap tho. I have been looking to seer what the original interrior looked in them. Mine was gutted too. Only thing left was the 2 front seats falling apart, and some foam from the back seats that my dog now lays on. Looks good still tho. You could now turn it into the only 1977 V-Mate-I BOW RIDER.....think about it.....could be awsome. Good luck with it. nice colors too.
