yes, you could put it there. if you head up river, that is where matt's video was shot. water??i would not let my kid play in it. if you head down river about 45 minutes you can be at the state park in the bay and swim there.
i did see that checkmate in detroit, but looking for a 21 foot boat. there are a lot of deals out there on the smaller ones right now.
 
the river is all good to run the boat in. you can touch the water but i wouldnt jump in. the bay is alright. it is a good hour from the launch.
