How accurate is your gas gauge ?

Well-known member
I went out 3 times before i filled it up again.
My gauge dint move from''F'' till the 2nd ride. And then it started to come down. After the 3rd time out it was reading between 1/2 and 3/4,went to fill it up and it took 21 gals, and the gas tank can hold 30 gals, the gauge should have read just a little over 1/4..Is it normal,if not can it be ajusted?
Thanks.

I replaced the sending unit in my tank last fall and it worked good until I pushed the boat pretty hard on a windy choppy day, I don't know if that's what caused it to stop working properly or not, now when the tank is full it reads 3/4 and when it hits empty on the gauge I still have almost half a tank. I don't think there is any adjustment but not sure. I just fill it every time I go out now because it's always on empty, lol.

i have never owned a boat with a gas guage worth a hoot...... They all work but, Not accurately. The senator filled right to the top reads about 3/4 tank... and a about 1/2 tank says emtpy. Probably has the wrong will-fit sender in it or something..

my pulsare goes to full when I fill it but at the end of the day it will say 1/4 tank and it only takes 12 to 13 gallons to fill.

clauipie, your pulsare only has a 30 gallon tank my 2005 will hold 38 gallons

mine works great i moves so freely from F to E no but seriously the angle of the boat changes so much from idle to wot that it really is an artform to read it accurately

Mine is all over the place, but the tank is white kinda see through plastic, so I can see where the gas is.

Mine is the same. i can fill it up all the way up the tube and it says 3/4. It will stay there forever but once it starts moving it goes alot faster then I would like. I just always fill full every time.

Same here, so I too fill it every time before we go out, i would just like to have a little better idea of what is really going on. We are going to take a 170 mile (one way) trip in late August or September so I would really like to have a better idea by then. Oh well, I know we are planning to make a fuel stop once each way anyway...

Friggin terrible! Brand new autometer marine gauge and new sender, clean tank etc... Filled the tank and the gauge stayed pegged full for 2 hours of run down and then dropped like a rock over the next hour to 1/4 and then seemingly registered correctly. Can't win here, just gotta be in touch with your fuel usage :o

Livorsi Marine tank sender is the way to go, Its not a float arm or "floating magnet" type sender, it reads pressure, you adjust it at empty, then full, and it is accurate, I havn't seen a guage that it wouldn't work with.

Close. It is a capacitive sender and is 9000 times better than any float sender you will find. Here is the link. I have one and it works well.
