I HAVE AN 88' 2.4 200. WHAT ALL CAN I DO TO GET THE MOST ADDITIONAL HORSEPOWER OUT OF IT? ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED.

That's a pretty vague ?. How much money you goy?? How reliable do you want it to be??. Bang for the buck tightening up the heads a bit will net the cheapest ponies. But you could hog it all out and make big HP but lose lots of your reliabilty.

NOT VAGUE AT ALL. I SIMPLY ASKED HOW I CAN GET THE MOST HP OUT OF WHAT I HAVE. I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT MONEY! I DO NOW IT HAS TO BE CHEAPER TO MODIFY WHAT I HAVE VERSUS BUYING A NEW ONE.

Well there's 2.4 making well in excess of 260Hp but to get yours there you would be cheaper to buy a drop on 2.5 260 or 280.

You can start ( as Blizz say's) modifying your motor all sorts of ways. A small pile of money will make it go a little bit faster. ( heads, tuner, new reeds). A bigger pile alot faster ( porting, carb mods or make it a trick EFI plus more). But then spin it at about 8-9000 rpm too. Don't forget to buy racing fuel @ $9.00/gal. Better make sure you rebuild it every few weekends too. Cuz it's not going to last otherwise.

I'd work w/your set-up before even touching that engine. After that's 100% then maybe think....about motor mods.

Or buy a good used 2.4 or 2.5 drop-on racing powerhead. Much cheaper in the long run and more dependable too.

call super dave aka merkman, einstein, damn fool, and let him turn it into a handgrenade. send him an email on s & f. hes dave s hes building me an improvised explosive device next, but i get 4 years out of them for dirt cheap
