How the heck do you get rid of oxidation on a black decked boat

Ok so I go out and buy the Meguiars oxidation removal stuff, buy a new professional buffer, and spend 8 hours buffing the hell out of my new to me black decked pulse 186 And she looks good! Then I do as they say and apply thier wax on top of it, and she almost looks like new again….. Wow right! ….. Not! After 4 hours in the sun the very next day, its back exactly where I started…. An older looking boat!
Where did I go wrong? Is it the Meguiars product line that sucks? Help! Once you do all of that work should it not last a full season in the sun? Ok I know when it’s not in use cover it up… But 4 hours?

the best stuff i have found is called "aqua buff". it is messy and takes a little while to work with it but it does a nice job. they make it in different "grits" so look into it before you go buying the wrong stuff to begin your project....good luck!

You might have to wet sand it. Try the aqua buff on a section and see what happens before doing the whole thing. It sounds you might need sanding though. All you did the first round was moisturize it then it dryed back out.

it wont if its kept inside and waxed regularly

Once you go thru the steps of wet sanding, buffing and then a good hand wax. You shouldn't have to worry about it returning as long as the boat is kept indoors when not in use and waxed regularly. Which is basically what Ross said earlier.

If not stored indoors, keep it full covered when not in use. Use a glaze or wax with uv guard. You'll still have to keep up with it but once you cut it off the hard part is done.

Ouch, that fuken hurts

Try using the buffer to wax it also. Getting it hot will open up the pores of the gel and allow the way to get in better

I'm sorry, that was so insensitive. I'm just feelin' real pissy and sarcastic. My second summer vacation was blown out of the water by Irene and I'm 0 for 2 and felling sorry for myself. And sarcastic.. Damnit.
