Hydraulic Steering

Hey Yall,
My Eluder's 200 Merc Dual Ride Guide steering is too tight. The cables are old plus a 6" setback jack plate forces a tight bend in the cables making them stiff. So, I'd like to go high performance hydraulic. Any tips?
Thanks in advance...

You want the Sea Star Pro model, and if you want the ultimate ask for the 'Allison' model..................

JW is right on the money!! Great system and the "Allison" model has the new cylinder ram that has no "slop". I've been told that the new ram also gives the driver some feedback unlike the older rams.

I am looking at the Teleflex Bay star for my 16'6" enticer. The plan is to install a modern 135 merc with a 5" or 6" manual jack plate. Do you think the Bay star will work out ok ?Teleflex says it will do good on engines up to 150 and speeds over 50 mph. What do you think. THANKS.

Thanks Boatman, do you think the bay star will do a good job. Do I need any other parts or will the kit have everything I need.

I have the lower cost Sea Star hydraulic on my 18' Four Winns with the 150 Johnson. It's fine for that boat, as it can only run 48 mph with the current prop/setup.

The kit should have everything you need. This system uses your tie bar to connect to the engine. It should a fine job with 150hp or less. If you are interested in purchasing this kit from me, you have to let me know on here. They are not on my web site yet and when they are, the price shown will be a little more than what you guy's will pay through this site. thanks, boatman

I placed my order for the Bay-ster hydraullic steering system today. I think I got a super good deal at $500.00. They even included the updated HC-4645 cylinder in place of the older HC-4600 cylinder with the kit. Need to order the jack plate next. I'm thinking about the TH Marine Pro Hi Jacker HP 6" manual it Looks like a nice unit. I also like the looks of the Vans the Slidemaster and the Bob's jack plates. Sorry Boatman but I found a lower price, but thanks for the information.

Do you need a completely different system or just the Allison ram? I would like to get the steering a little tighter on my Pulsare. I have always had Hynautic systems in the past and they had no play. No matter how many times I bleed this seastar system I have 3/8 of an inch of play at the engine if you push it side to side.

I looked on the Teleflex site but I did not sea it there?

Teleflex has a hydraulic steering tech support line. Call 1-604-270-6899 from 9:00 to 5:00 PST and ask to talk to Greg or Mark. They were real nice to talk with

Found a Teleflex box at my back door when I got home from work saturday. That is a nice looking system. The HC4645H cylinder is a way nicer looking unit than the older style HC4600H cylinder. Looking for the box that says TH-Marine to show up next

Got my jack plate yesterday. Mailed my deposit to hold a 1988 135 Merc that a man has for sale in N.C. Looks like I have some work to do this winter
