I need a new sound system for for my Convincor

I like the response to this thread. I am going to install my new sub boxes and see how they sound. Some of us old guys can learn a lot since the days of Pioneer Super Tuners and Craig speakers, Keep the responses coming-Thanks.

Hey i have a pioneer super tuner in my boat!!!!!!! It works great and i have 3 mp3 inputs run in to it. I have the amp running 2 cerwin vega subs and 2 kenwood 7x10's . I also have 2 jl audio"s in the cabin. AIN"T NOTHIN" WRONG WITH THE RADIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Wow, those are some impressive systems. Iceboater - nice install!

I just ordered 2 more infinity marine 6x9's (will make 4 total under the rear bench), a pair of marine infinity 6.5's for the bow and a couple of 5.25 infinity reference car speakers for under the dash (can't fit anything bigger in there). I'll end up connecting all 4 6x9's to my 2 channel 300 w amp like Brian suggested and then either running the other speakers off of the head unit or using the 4x25 amp for them.

I'm not hung up on infinity's -but I already owned and liked the one pair of the 6x9's and for the $, they have good sensitivity and quality for the $ - so I stuck with the same brand. I was going to cheap out on the 5.25's due to location and size, but I figured for another $30 I could have them all match and may as well do it right the first time. Dealercostaudio has infinity's (and others) at about 50% of retail.

It won't be super loud, but should be just fine, may even be able to hear it while cruising.

thanks! I set everthing up myself. It doesn't sound bad for an amatuer install.

ICBoater, that is exactly where I am planning to put mine. Damn, I whought I was doing something that no one had done before.

Are those free air subs mounted on a slam board type setup or are they in boxes. How did you get them in there? I am 99% sure I am going to have to remove the bolsters to get mine installed.

Mine are going to be in boxes. Still not sure if I am building sealed or vented enclosures. Still building cardboard prototype boxes and measuring everything very carefully.

They are in boxes.I took one end of the rail loose and moved it out of the way and the box slides right in.

Holy crap, I guess that is the benefit of the bigger boat. I am convinced I will not be able to get the boxes into my 253 without removing the bolsters.

Is your boat the old 283 with the seim platform now counted in LOA or do you have one of the true 30 footers. I believe the original Convincor 300 was 30' not counting the swim platform. You obviously have more room then me.:thumb:

BTW, so you stilll have the measurements of the boxes you used?

283 and 300 Convincors are the same length. They are 28 feet w/o counting the swim platform, 30 feet with counting it.

In the vintage pictures in the gallery there are some Convincor's with three portholes that look real looong and must be true 30 footers or better. But I'll never see any of them where I boat/live.:(
