I/O guys... questions/advice?

BTW I trailer my 253 all the time and its no big deal loading and unloading. Takes a little practice but it is no harder than our old 21' BR. Comming from a 21 to a 25 I can tell you the ride is sooo much better. No more slowing down for any big wakes. Now REALLY BIG WAKES may be another story. ;)

:thumb: Realistically I think a 253 in great shape would fit the bill pretty well. Found this one: http://worcester.craigslist.org/boa/1819920732.html Just need to sell the Pulsare....and get the guy in the LOW 20's. There are quite a few very nice boats out there very reasonably priced.

Said 74-76MPH, 500 hrs on motor.....

The 502 is a good motor. The only thing with a 502 is they tend to burn oil faster than most other merc engines but run well and last. My friend with a 25 AT has a 502 I'll get his take on it and how many hours you can expect to get out of it. I do not think mid 70's is GPS, I could be wrong but seems a bit high. But still a nice boat!

I would stay away from the 496's seen to many issues with them....and GM no longer makes them either..the 502's are hard to beat all around !!!! the 251's are great boats and perform very well...Rob

i have a friend with the same boat 74 gps with the 500 hp that only has the 415hp mag motor seems a little high

I talked with my friend with the '99 502 in his Active Thunder and he has a little over 500 hours on his motor with no problems. He keeps up on his oil and uses good oil filters. He burns some oil but as I stated before this is normal for these 502's At the end of the season he is going to pull the heads just due to the run time on the engine. Good Luck

Back from the DEAD...

Still contemplating, even more now then ever with a 2.5 yr old that loves the boat and beach, but up on the pad gettin it only happens when I'm solo. If I could find an i/o that does 70ish I might be sold?!?!?!?!

Sippy Rat has a nice I/O for sale. Last I heard Evans213, I think that's his username still has his on the market.

What you gonna do with that pulsare?

Sell, if that's what I decide and can find something else.

Too much for not enough?? Make sense..? Very nice, just not what I'd envision for that $$$.

Are you sure that you learned how to drive a boat well enough to get something bigger?
