I'm now a two boat owner!!

Latest Talon Picture

Here's the latest picture. Every week I seem to find a "new" project to improve. This past week was installing a new zinc to the Offshore Mid, mounting the Jackplate switch, Scrubbing the seats with softscrub, and replacing the rotton wood with starboard on the rear seat back rest. Now I just gotta save the $$$$ for Hyd. Steering and new gages!!

jupiter, nice looking ride. what kind of speed do you get out of her?
Hey Tim, Long time no talk to. How've you been?? Hopefully getting a good boating season. As far as the Talon is concerned, I've not seen the upper realm yet. The only time I've been alone in the boat (where I didn't have to worry bout hurting or scaring someone else) I did not have sunglasses and could not see much past 75 mph....the boat was still accellerating and I thought my contact lenses were gonna rip out. I did close my eyes (briefly...very briefly) and blink to see the GPS flash 79 mph. Since that day I've switched from a Bob Nose cone lower to a Sportmaster lower. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do some speed runs next week. Ironically, the prop that came with the boat is a ...DAH Chopper! lol

JP

Would love to see some video of the talon running. Friend of mine use to own a '92 Talon with twin 2.4 Mercs (it would haul !!!!). Does your Talon have a center pod?

Yes, my Talon does have a center pod. I don't believe they built any Talons (cept one 37 that I know of) without Center pods. If your friend had twin 2.4's he must've had a 22' Talon. I've never seen a 21" Talon with twins....although I could always try!! LOL

Talon ran 83.9 MPH on sunday!!!

With a little time behind the seat, I managed 83.9 mph before having to slow down due to a boat wake and some boat traffic ahead. It was a full on rush. The boat would begin to bounce a bit in the mid 70's and tinkering with the trim and jack plate didn't help so I burried the throttle to the glass and the nose squatted down and the Talon just accellerated!!! It was pretty cool watching the GPS climb past 80 and keep going!!! And that was with a full 36 gallons of gas!! mmmm...guess I'll have to try for 85mph next!!!

Nice rocketship JP! Say, what is it like in the turns? My neighbour has an Eliminator and it is very fast and solid but you have to get used to the outside roll in the turns. We had a little race last year. I had the Starliner WOT and he passed me at cruising speed.

What model Eliminator is it? My dad has a 19 Daytona and it turns on a dime. 2.5 EFI 260hp. 96mph on GPS with room for improvement.

He has a 25 Daytona with a 496HO. ( I knew I never had a chance but it was fun to race him) It runs really flat and rolls outside in turns. I don't think those big ones have a center pod. Maybe that's the difference.

The Talon has a center pod. The boat turns like it's on rails!! No outward lean at all. The coolest thing is the accelleration. I've never felt a boat pull harder!!! From a dead stop there is no bowrise whatsoever...it just pops on top and takes off like a scalded dog!!!! The bad news is now that my Puslare is just about finished, I'm having a tough time deciding which boat to sell!!

I really like the tunnel and love how they look when there flying, but id never be able to convince my gf that its a family boat:confused: . Im thinking she may consider a 21 pulsare br with a 300 a nice compermise in the next year or so:sssh:. Id stay with the pulsare JUP but ive always been more into the sleeper boats , Here in washington not many have heard of checkmates. But they sure notice when im cruiseing at 50 and then am able to pull away. It be hard to surprise anyone with a talon ,no real shock factor that those haul @$#. Is you pulsare br i cant see from the pic? Aaron

Aaron, my Pulsare is a long deck. It's one of a very few built with Black gelcoat and silver mist flake. Very cool looking boat. I may take the 2.5 race motor off the Talon and put it on the Pulsare....but the 225 Xri is such a easy motor to run..no brain damage...no high performance oil, no premixing, smokes very little, idles like a kitten, quiet, etc.. It just doesn't pull like the 2.5. I think I could see speeds into the upper 70's low 80's with the 2.5.
