inline six paint and decals

I know I'm chiming in a bit late here. Did you try doing the whole wetsand, compound, wax and polish thing before you painted it?

There was nothing left of the original paint . If you touched it the paint dust would be all over your hands like chalk . Thats how bad the sun baked the old paint .

Looks awesome Will!

Thanks to my dad it turned out great . I bought the stuff and was going to paint it and next thing i know hes out spraying it . Which was perfectly ok it turned out great. Now he has one more to paint for me lol

Hey Will

Your motor looks fantastic. I've never painted anything before. By the looks of things you never even removed the motor from the boat:p. Was painting it really hard or should I follow in your footsteps and give this a shot?

No it wasnt bad just the prep work . Use a chemical stripper to remove the paint Though that was the best way . It was alittle rough painting the motor on the boat when we got toward the front of the motor. But all turned out well . I masked the back of the boat off before it was painted . I was going to remove the motor but the gas tank sits so close to the transom its really hard to get the bolts out of the motor .

Hey Will,

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I'm going to go for it this fall. Hopefully you won't be annoyed when I pester you with questions. How did you make sure you had a clean painting surface with all those little nooks in the bottom end of the motor?

What paint stripper did you use?

Thanks again!

I used E Z Strip . Than after all the paint and primer was off I sprayed it with soap and water with the hose to clean it down some . Than the spot where there were grease and what not I cleaned up with degreaser . My next inline I do next spring will be alitle easier since its on the stand and will be all taken apart for a rebuild so it will be able to paint alittle easier .....
