installing my jack plate

Well-known member
is there anything else that you guys recomend installing in my motor besides a water pressure guage before running my motor on my 12 inch vance plate?

I have both water temp and pressure gauge. I've got pictures of both on the forum in the electrical section, i think.

I have a "RED" warning light on the dash tied to the overheat alarm system...if I don't hear the alarm or the alarm horn fails I've got this bright red light letting me know something's wrong. Make sure you've intalled backing plates on the inside of your transome to distribute the load on the Jack Plate so you don't stress your transom.

do you guys know how much and how hard it is to install a dual cable setup???

not sure on the price - but its not hard, you already have the motor off - that's usually the big pain. the rest is pretty straight forward.

At this point, you might as well spend the $$$ and install Sea Star Pro hydraulic steering. It's a very easy install and will cost you about $900 with hoses. You'll thank me later!!!

i am pretty sure merc245 said he used stock cables with 14" setback. i think you just have to break them loose from the mounts under the deck.
