Looking to change out the original cast iron intake and quadra junk for an aluminum and Holley.

My '88 Enchanter is equiped from the factory with a 260hp 350. Also looing into loosing the cast iron exhaust manifolds.

Any recomendations? Hoping to hae parts ready fall and winter transformation.

a edelbrock performer does a great job on boats, if you can turn some more RPM's, over 5500 then the RPM air gap is the ticket..Rob

The guy that bought my old Enchanter upped his 260 to about 330 hp and said it wasn't worth it. Sure you get 80+ mph but it cost a lot if you factor in every think. Had extended the outdrive and had problems with it as it ran hot, blew up at least once, then the motr didn't last more then two summers, he drove it hard though. Anyway it will cost $$$$ and may not hold up but it will kick ass. Like I've been told about my 225 Looper, the more Mods-HP you do the more results you get but it comes at a price. Still from what I've been told my looper with the Starflite is one of the best set-ups to modify. Right know I'm running a hrd. j-plate and have put hi compression heads with bosen reeds and it really flys. If I send it out to get ported I can get a very dependable 280-kick ass all day- motor. I/Os cost much more to mod I can tell you I've never heard anythink bad about mods to O/Bs that are done by the pros, it's cheapper too!

I would find a good aftermarket header, and run through hull exhaust. If you are going to get more air in, might as well help it get back out. Not only that, it will breathe better in the upper revs. I am not sure what esle you are willing to do. I imagine a cam change and maybe some head work will help as well. You just have to be carefull once you get over 300 hp with the alpha drive.

What kind of speeds is your boat running now? What do most of the I/O enchanters run with a stock 350 260 hp?

If it was mine I would go with a E-brock performer rpm range 0-5500 and a holley 600 double pumper. For exhaust anything to get it threw the hull. Because we are all after that sound. But if you are planning on later to do bigger engine mods I would go ahead and get some better manifolds or headers now. It might not help your performance but it will sound good and you will have it when the mods are done.

I'm running thru transom exhaust from the factory as we speak. As for speed with the 350 260hp I was clock with a GPS last year at 67-69mph, not bad for a 19 year old boat, my spedo is reading around 64mph. When the boat was new the spedo would read around 71mph at 4400rpm. I'm running 25 inch pitch SS mirage prop. Two years ago I had a nick taken out of it and ever since have not been able to turn over 70. I have a feeling that they ground down the prop by 1/2" on all blades verses welding the nick up and balancing.

I looking basically to remove excess weight for the boat. That was the thought for going to as alumimun intake and exhaust manifolds.
