It's actually scary now

thats great!! how did it come up on plane? is this the prop you had trouble getting out of the hole with?

Yes it is, I had my GF tow me with her Sea Doo. It mainly applied some downward force on the bow to help get the hull leveled out. It planed out very fast with the help. ;) I let go of the rope and made a few passes.

As much as I hate adding weight to my vehicles I think that is the answer for my Starflite (to the bow). It will let it get on plane easier and probably make it more stable at high speed, it is a handful to say the least. Honestly the boat/motor has more speed but I can't hold it long enough to get there. It is hit and miss with the chinewalking. Sometimes it flies straight and then starts to walk, other times it starts walking right away. I am going to bleed the steering again and get solid motor mounts to help reduce the instability. I'm also going to look into a hydraluic jackplate, probably a 4 or 6 inch version. I am running a manual jackplate with 8.5 inches of setback and I think that's too much with the V8.

And to continue on with the title, this thing is still scary.

Rob

Rob, try a 6 inch set back jack plate, it works well in mine. Also, if you need solid motor mounts try land & sea. I bought a set early in the year for about 75 bucks delivered. MY starliner would run 86mph with my Mad EFI motor. & a 27p srx prop. (bad chine walk at 60mph) Now with a stock 3.6 powerhead it runs 67 w a 26p rakerII. No more chine walk with the solid mounts! You have me beat on hp, that thing should run high 90s if you can get the chine out of it.

i found mine takes off a hell of alot better if i run the plate all the way down as compared to 2" below.

now you just have to find a hydro plate that is rated for all that power and weight you have back there.

dont stop till you see 95 :thumb:

like getting a push at the salt flats, from the other end. would have enjoyed watching that.

I totally agree with the post about the foot throttle. Land and Sea has one (at least they did a few years ago) that you can hook your hand throttle to so you don't lose the convenience of the hand throttle if your standing up. I put one in my old Checkmate. It was a great investment in safety and that boat topped out around 65mph. I can't imagine doing 70-80+ without one. Even if your just cruising 40+ it's nice be able control the throttle with your foot. Be safe. Sure sounds like fun .

Man what a sweet (fast) little ride... Apache Lake is the best as well, I live 40 minutes from the lake and hope to see you there some day!!!:bigthumb:

rob the key is in the prop. a good prop can make you look like one hell of a driver but that is hard to find the right one every boat is different even the same hull, how thing are mounted wheight wise etc. oh and good props are not cheep.

good job and good luck

i borrowed a lot of props to break 100 and it got out of control trying them and i found the right prop guy and told him what i was seeing and it worked out. i think it is some skill some luck and find some one that has been there and ask there help some one local that can show you how to

they are hard to find but i bet someone is closer than you think, hell i am building this donzi and little do i know that i sold a boat to vaghn szarka and one of my dads buddys built the moter for the boat. it was a 30 ft magnum. small world but it is in the prop on that boat

Good ol Apache Lake!!! I love that lake!!! Very sweet (and fast) machine you got there!!! I hope to see you out on Apache soon.:thumb:
