Ok gang you know how fun it is to show off your mate by running past the local swimming hole, beach or hang out and kick up a big old rooster tail. I was thinking that it would be kind of cool if we could get a bunch of rooster pics together in one place so come on let's see your best rooster tail pics. I will get things started with a few rather poor quality shots from this week at the lake.

Nice pic JW love to see the new boat in action. Thanks for getting the ball rolling, Fred !!

Not my new boat, this was our first checkmate. 1992 Pulse 171 with an XR6. I think I sold it in 1997 or 1998.........................

New to the Rooster Tail scene:
What is the best way to make one happen without damaging the motor?
I do not have a pressure gauge.

Thanks

Just alot of positive trim. A chopper prop as well as the motor running high helps too. you wont hurt the motor unless you over-rev.
Ill be sure to get some good pics next time Im out.
Wicked, those are great shots. you're really on a roll here. keep em comming.:surf:

Just run her along nice and easy at just over 1/2 throttle. Trim up to the point of throwing a small rooster just about as high or just higher than the engine then hammer down and hang on. I don't think any boat can run this way for long. When you start to pick up some speed the boat will become loose loose with the nose way up in the air. The big rooster is not made by running flat out at max speed. It's made by running a high trim angle at mid speed then lay down the power but just a few seconds. I do keep an eye on my pressure and RPM's when I'm fooling around and don't think it's a problem. I would think it's harder on the boat than it is on the engine. Fred

lol lol lol

Boston I never noticed it before by looking at the small pic but looking at the big pic is see that you are totally blowing away a pontoon from view in the back ground. That's funny man thanks for the pics, Fred

Man that is one crazy vid Peadbo. It nearly made me sea-sick LOL LOL. You need a partner to shoot your pics and vids for you next time. My wife shoots the pics for me most of the time.

my partners dont want to come and if they do i have to promise to putt around at just above idle speeds!

next time ill post a disclaimer telling people to take their sea sickness pills before watching hahahaha. Actually most of the video is out front so i could see and drive and have the camera going pretty steady, Was taking a vid of the river for friends. That part was just a short piece that i grabbed the camera and whipped it around at speed. When i saw the rooster tail topic i went and cut it out and posted it.
