she looks pretty good when she squats / bends at the knees to use propper lifting form...

now I just wish she would just bring me an alpha version stern jack to go with the drive...

How bad do you want one? I'm second in line behind another one... it doesn't look nearly as nice from the pics the guy sent me... but he's going to let me know if the first guy that contacted him puts up the cash

My bad. I humbly apologize for having attempted to impugn the integrity of you or any of your ancestors.
You just reminded me of this smokin' blond who used to deliver to our office in those brown shorts. I can't imagine her lifting that thing.

this afternoon...

So is that an Alpha "SS" drive?? Couple questions, are the top ends built stronger/better than a normal Alpha? Obviously it's a different lower unit, any shorter to bring up the X dimensions? Where in the world do you find them?? I would gladly love to buy an SS drive for the back of my Enchanter if it would be worth it...

If I get a turn at the other one, I'll let you know what i can get it for and see if you want it. I'm going to take this one out to Joey's place tomorrow and have him check it out (if i can break free from work). I'm probably going to put cryo treated bearings and 1.65 gears in the upper... Especially if I can find a sternjack. will have to see...

yes, ss drive. they have heavy duty 1.5 or 1.32 gears in them. you can put the same gears in a regular alpha drive.

the upper is 2 1/2 inches shorter, the lower is a 2.4 cle outboard and isn't any shorted than a standard alpha, but has the different shape and a low water pickup.

find them - like anything else, get lucky and pay attention for a while. is sort of a bizzare coincidence that I got line on two different ones at the same time.

back early this year there were two of them mis advertised on ebay as "offshore" alpha drives. no one bid on them with a minimum of $350. I didn't think about it at the time, but called the guy later and they were already sold.

the one above was a take off from an eliminator a dealer took in trade and restored to stock configuration for resale. It wasn't advertised, I totally lucked into it.

I'm not sure the drive by itself will make that much difference in speed. if you pay attention to the outboard guys, they blunt the nose on the analogous outboard lowers to lower the drag... or so I read...

Well, a speed increase isn't what i was worried about, strength is the priority. I've heard to many horor stories about normal Alpha's scattering themselves all to often. For the piece of mind i would love to throw a better/stronger outdrive on the back of my Enchanter, but i think a Bravo upgrade would be way to costly, probably cost a small fortune to have done by a good shop. My Alpha seems to run OK, i do not abuse it and i don't beleive the previous owner abused it either, all though it has had contact with bottom at some point in the drives life, judging by the skeg condition. I didn't think there were any upgrade rebuild parts for the Alpha, i may have to look into that.
