Looking for 19-22' Checkmate

First post, however I actually read many postings on here over the years. I was considering buying a Waverunner for myself. However after allot of thought I figured I will try for a Checkmate before I settle.

Looking for a 19-22' Checkmate prefer outboard model, closed bow. Pretty sure the Pulsar and Starflight models are what I like, however others may fit the criteria also.

I am in FL, however would travel few hundred miles for right boat/deal.

Budget, well get ready to laugh, I have a few thousand cash on hand and will keep saving.

I guess if anyone knows of a boat needing a home or a awesome deal on their local craigslist, please drop me a message.

Sincerely

Will :p

I wanted to let you know about this one . Its to bad about the logistics because this boat is really nice especially for the price. You might find it to be worth the trip some how. I love a good road trip but not everyone does. Good luck with your search and we all will keep our eye out for ya. Jeff

I actually looked at your boat and it is a great deal, however Tampa to MI is just too far.:D

Place an add on CL, half of the retired people in Michigan are headed to Florida this month, half of the employed people visit Florida during the winter. You may be able to find someone to tow it down to you.

Waiting to hear back on some calls I made here in FL. Quick question most Starflites seem to have 200-225hp one for sale here has a "175HP HP BlackMax V6" is this a normal motor for these boats??

Thank you

WIll:D

It's a 175 hp Merc. A 2.4L I believe. A little on the small side if you ask me. They are a bit of a heavy boat so most people prefer the 3.0L or bigger motors. I'd say depending on your mph goals a 200 3.0 is a minimum. I really like the way my Starliner runs with the 250hp EFI Merc on it. Much better than the 200 JohnnyRude.

All depends what you want the boat for....
My starliner (starflite with open bow) has a 150hp v6 Yammie which is said to be 178hp. I get low 50's on a cooler day one up.
As I have a young family, it's more than what I need to keep them enjoying boating and for water skiing but I do wish at times I could squeeze another 15-20mph out of her when I'm on my own or with a few pals.

If you find something nice but its a little to far look into shipping. I posted on Craigslist and uship for quates and the shipping guys are cut throat to get a load. I think my best was $750 for 600 miles. If your willing to do 2-300 of them then thats less money. Just a thought for you.

I could help to arrange shipping for you if you cover the shipping cost. I have a friend that travels from MI to FL On a more regular basis. Im sure i could work a sweet deal out for fuel cost, but thats only if your 100% serious.

Thanks, but I am going to exhaust everything in FL, before making road trips and shipping. Have 4 in FL right now I am watching and called to see if they can come down 1-2K  we will see.

Update, found boat seller and I agree on price. going this week to buy. I know this is silly but would one of (you) Checkmate guru's pm me a phone number so I can discuss the deal and just make sure I am getting a fair deal?

Sincerely

Will;)
