looking for a starflite

Chit, pan down a bunch of pages, there was a nice Starflite with a late model Opti 225 hanging off the back. It was forsale sometime last summer. My old Starflite may be for sale come late spring, but it needed a bit of tlc. Good runner, strong older evinrude 200, prob. looking for $4000 or so. I'll post here if he wants to sell.

I think that is the one I looked at, it is in cheyenne, Iowa. It was fixed up real nice, the only problem is he is looking for like 16. Which is a little more than I want to spend.

At that price a nicer pulsar with a newer 200 or 225 is with reach. How do feel about an old carbed 245hp 2.5 its a screamer!!!!!! Goodluck in your search.

I think you are right. He was best off to split that package up to get that sort of scratch.

True. I think Starflites are simply the best looking Mates ever built, but it is hard to swallow buying one for big $$$ when you can find allot newer ones for the same price. I was very actively looking for a Starliner (br starflite) but couldn't stomach the high prices they command, considering the motors were 20 years old as well. For the same money I got a 330 orig. hour freshwater only 92 Persuader br with a 350. But i do miss the Flites looks.... boy do i miss it!! :yell:

Chit, i wish i coulda found my boat that quick!! :irked: I had cash in hand for 4 months and couldn't find anything. Course, i was pretty specific in what i wanted :o Congrats, yup, post pix!

I started looking about three months ago, at that time I was looking at a superboat. The one I was looking at, was being sold at a price that I didn't think was resonable for a 20 year old boat. I looked at a Velocity and it was trashed and by chance I happened to find this one somewhat locally, which was a big plus in deciding to buy. It has just about everything I was looking for except power. Has a 97 225, and I would really like to pick up a used 250xs or maybe a 225xs.

I live in California, and most of the checkmates seem to be in the great lakes are and the superboat seem to be on the east coast.

Superboats do seem to favor the East Coast, prob. bc we use 'em in the ocean and big lakes more. You're right, it was hard for me to put down big $$$ on an old boat, esp. when you think that if it was used even normally all those years, the guts are likely getting a bit tired and restoring one is no easy task.
