"Wanted" Looking for an Orange, Red, Yellow, and White Pulsare!!

Nelkcots

New member
Hello all,

I am starting to look for my dad's old boat. It was a 1996 21ft Pulsare, white with orange, red, and yellow accents. It was on a white 2 axle trailer when we sold it back in 2008. It had a 225 pro merc motor on it and a rockin' sound system. I know the checkmate owners seem to be a small knit community so I am hoping someone can help me locate the boat and let the current owner I would be interested in buying it back. We sold it out of the Chicago area to I believe someone in Wisconsin. Any help would be appreciated! I will attach a photo of it.

P.S. may be interested in a similar Pulsare as well.

Hi Nelkcots! Welcome to the forum. Your dad must be named Steve? I sold your dad this boat, 2008 seems correct. How have you been? How's your dad?

That was actually a 1995 setup. Pretty sure I bought it around 2002. Original owner bought it from Main Marine out of Racine Wisconsin. I purchased it and relocated it to SW Michigan and enjoyed it for a few years. I played with the setup and brought it from a fantastic family sports bow rider that did 68 mph GPS to a fantastic family sports bow rider that did 74 mph GPS. LOVED that 2100BR. Was a great handling machine. I added more setback (that 10" HD Rapidjack with planer plate) and added a factory bow cover. The local sheriff tried to catch me on radar many times, but was never successful. :rof:

It did have two negatives you probably remember: The Promax needed premium gas and it went through it like crazy! Tough on the wallet. And the Promax is a very LOUD engine. Tough on the ears when you're spending hours on the water pulling skiers and tubers.

Steve went by the username joemanix on this site. He sold it in June of 2011 to its fourth owner who lives in Racine Wisconsin. It went full circle back home! Your dad didn't tell me the new owners name, so I can't help there. He did mention that the new owner had seen this boat at the boat show the first owner bought it from, and that he used to see it sitting in front of the original owners shop back in the mid 90's. So if the fourth (new) owner still has this boat after nearly five years, you should be able to track it down in Racine.

Word of caution: if this boat hasn't had the flooring torn out and the hidden underfloor rot fixed, then it's well past due. If you want a '90's Checkmate, be prepared for major reconstruction if it hasn't already been done.

Once again, welcome! Feel free to contact me by PM if you want more details or to bs about Checkmates.

I love this forum: some dude puts a 411 on a boat from way back and in the first reply gets the goods! Nice post JW.

Thanks Sam! I love seeing my old boats on here. The only one I have not come across is the red Persuader that I sold to a guy in Oklahoma.

When I first got it home, notice the original 6" jack plate

Hey JW!

Yup Steve is my dad, funny story I told him I was going to post this and he said you would be the first reply!

Thanks for the info about the floors, I'll keep that in mind. We didn't do ay performance mods to the boat when we had it, dad loved the way you had it set up! He is big into music so we threw in a few amps, speakers, subs and enjoyed the heck out of that boat. I really miss the boat and have since moved out and live in western Illinois minutes from a boat launch on the Mississippi river, would love to have our old boat out at the sand pits and Princton Beach!

I thought it sounded like it might be JW's old boat

Best of luck with finding the current owner and hopefully its got new floors and is for sale.

JW, helped me make up my mind to purchase my current boat. It's a 2008 2100BR with all the same colors in nearly the same pattern but on a red trailer with a way too loud (for tubing) 250xs.

If you find your boat we'll have sisters, so again good luck.

That would be a nice find

Good luck getting it, nice looking boat and set up.

Hey Mikes197 saw your boat in the for sale post... Great looking boat! Unfortunately it's a little to new for my price range! Good luck on the sale though!

Well I found the gentleman my dad sold the boat to and he still has it! Gave him my name and number and hoping that when/if he decides to sell it he will get ahold of me!
