Looking For Opinion

I recently Resored @ 1979 21' Enchanter O/B Re did interior and Brought back the finish with a product called VertGlass Which I strongly Recommend. It wasn't long before the hole in my pocket found itself over the back end of the boat. Any way I ended up replacing the stock 200 HP Merc with a 1992 Yamaha 225hp Precision Blend O/B 25" That I got a great deal On from a marina in Northern MN. I also Purchased a TH Marine High Jacker Jacking Plate that puts the motor 6" Out with a 4 " verticle Adjustment Option. I also Replaced the steering and went with a teleflex hydraulic system. I have a pretty Standard Prop So any Suggestions on that and motor settings that would maximize performance would be appreciated. I noticed that the boat was rated for only 215HP how much difference will this make now that I have A 225HP. Also what can I expect as far as performance and top end guestamates. And is any one familiar with the Yamaha Motor that can tell me what I can expect as far as dependability and performance. And How does this all around set up sound? Thanks. I am New Here So If any one can tell me how to post pics I show you the project from start to finish.

welcome

What RPMs are you seeing with your setup? F150gt from the board has a enchanter with a 25'' yamaha, Im sure he could tell you more than I can. Any reason why you went w/ a 25'' motor? Kinda big for that boat but it will work. As far as props, Choppers seem to be the best for top end.

The first thread in "picture this" has instructions on how to post pics. If you cant figure it out you can email them to gk414@yahoo.com and Ill get em posted for you.

The Yamaha is a very dependable engine. You should have good luck w/it if the engine itself has been taken care of and you bought it from a reputable dealer. As a former Merc and Yamaha dealer myself for the most part any used V6 can be both trouble-free or a real headache depending on how it's been taken of.

You do have somewhat of an issue with the extra 5" of shaft that you added buy purchasing a 25" model. You will REALLY have to be lifting up and out quite a bit more with your jack/setback oufit to compensate for that extra 5".

Your performance #'s are "wide-open" to speculation at this point. Give us some feed-back on WOT RPM and which prop you are running and then we can have a benchmark to start from. The prop game is an art not a science sometimes.
