MAXIMUS prop 253 convincer slippage

I am now running 75.3 gps w/o boost, still need to install the 1 1/2" spacer on the out drive to bring down the imco shorty and tune the carb to the new bravo 1 26p i just recived in the mail today, glen

I have a buddy a I built a 496 for it made 580 hp 585 ft lbs in a 97 253 the hulls are not nearly as fast as other ones h e run 74 75 everyday and 76 on agood day. we tried everything and thats all we can get nice stable boat just not quite as fast as a 259 or 251 you need 700hp or better to go over 80, that is what we have seen throw a procharger on it and you will go well into the 80s.

I agree, something way off here. I am running a 2001 300 Convincor (without notch) at 74 GPS this past weekend with plenty of room for tuning yet as it was my first pass of the season as well as the first pass on all the new upgrades. I am running a 502ci World Merlin 345cc heads, 9.5:1 compression, 1.7 rockers, 168741 Gen 6 cam bought from Teague, 1050 Dominator, World Merlin X intake, 2-1 inch carb spacers (one four hole, one cloverleaf), MSD ignition with blue springs and black bushing set at 36.5 timing at 3000 rpm. This is thebest combo Ihave ran yet in this boat,a ton of throttle response, great acceleration and great top end so far. I need to work on propping and set up now. I ran 5400 rpms with a 25 Intimidator, but would like to see 5500-5600 with a lab 26 bravo. I don't know what is going on with your setup, but this should be a good idea of what to expect. Feel free to drop me an IM and I'll see if I can be of any help as we are close to the same setup enginewise.

Jeff

So what exactly i the difference between a 251, a 253, and a 259 Convincor.....I have always been curious. I own a 253.
