I grew up in Grand haven. Will be up there in early july. Going to hang with JW for one of those days. Small world.

S.E. Michigan, near ohio line. I usually goto Devils/Wamplers Lake or others in Irish Hills area. Also get over to Coldwater chains too.

I live in Cedarville, in the Eastern Upper Peninsula. We boat pretty much exclusively here in the Les Cheneaux Islands, with the occasional run over to Mackinac. My Checkmate is a 1990 Strobe with the 350 Magnum package, red and white.

I was getting confused...I knew that wasn't me in that hat...TBacha...also, I couldn't remember being in that parade either

Pinckney MI. here... I have an 86 Eluder with a 175 Merc that we run on the Portage chain of lakes. Can't seem to get out there with out a storm chasing us off though. Hopefully the summer will get better.

ha haaaa se i knew there were more of us here. im mostly in the saginaw river ( with all the filth) . its smooth and not a whole lot of traffic. i do make it to the mouth of the bay every now and then. i turn around though, on acount i would get swamped if i venture out any further. a 16 foot predictor dosnt handle at all in the saginaw bay.

Merc 245,What kind of speeds are you getting with your motor?I am thinking of buying a 260 drop on or a newer 3.0.(just dont tell the wife,as long as its black she wont know the difference)

back in the day i would hit 73-74 mph with only me and empty tank.stock bottom and 21 lazor II. now days keeping the motor together is more important.there is more speed in the bottom. according to john tiger of outboard tech in hot boat mag.starflites can gain 3-4 mphs in a corrected bottom.now days with daul batts, amp, heavier wood seat, 40lbs of speakers. ect. ect. i'm happy just being out there running in the 60's

a 260hp vs 3.0 liter as for my opinion and owning a high performance 2.5 for 10 yrs. they are loud and smokey. you need 93 octane you need to pre-mix to down to 32/1. the charging system is a lightweight at only 16 amps. questable durablity. ( i'm on my 3rd powerhead in 10 yrs.) good luck.
