Mission Accomplished 101MPH!!!

If a 6 drive would work, it would have already been on the boat. No room for a tranny and surface piercing drives don't work will on single engine V hulls.

I have a 2001 300 Convincor with a single engine and a #6 drive. We mounted the tranny in an extension box so the motor is in a stock bravo location. It took over two years to get the setup correct but the boat handles very well and to date we have seen 112 on gps.

I didn't know of anyone that’s had good luck with an extension box on a checkmate single. What type of setup changes did you have to make to dial it in?

The biggest issue was drive height. I have a friend here in Michigan who also has a 300 with an extension box and a naturally aspirated engine who has run 91 mph on gps. If you get the drive height correct the boats respond very well to a box.

Ok, so what length is the extension box?
What was the original X dimension?
How many inches did you raise it?
Also what is the HP your running?

The box is 12" so with the #6 that puts the prop 53" from the transom. We cut our own hole in the transom with guidance from Merc Racing but we had the drive too high so we ended up filling the hole and going lower. The engine is a twin turbo with adjustable boost. Right now it's making over 1400hp.

That #6 instalation sounds like an intresting looking set up. Another neat thing is that it seems to me that it would work like a set back on and outboard.. COOL...
.
Take some photos and send them to Chris

All I want is an x-dimension. This is the distance from the hull bottom to the crank centerline. Everything else is easy to figure out. I just want the drive position in relation to the hull. ie. X-dim. Mine is about 17 1/2"

Not to mention, why would you move the motor down? Mercury makes #6 spacers to do that up to 3 inches. Moving the motor is way to much work.

IF I REMEMBER CORRECTLY, IMCO, MADE A REALLY COOL SINGLE ENGINE INSTALLATION/TWIN DRIVE SETUP FOR BIG HP MOTORS CALLED THE IMCO 4X4. COULD BE SOMETHING WORTH LOOKING INTO FOR YOUR MONSTER MOTORS!! THE SINGLE MOTOR SHAFT WENT TO A TRANNY THAT SPLIT THE POWER TO TWO DRIVES. SOME OF THE CATALINA SKI RACERS IN CA STARTED PLAYING WITH THEM. I'VE BEEN TOLD THE ACCELERATION IS UNBELIEVABLE!!!

NEED TO CORRECT MYSELF ON THE PRIOR POST. IMCO DOES MAKE THE 4X4 XTREME ADVANTAGE WHICH IS A DRIVE INCORPORATING FOUR GEARS IN THE UPPER UNIT, A BAM TRANNY IN THE STANDOFF BOX AND A LOWER UNIT WITH HYD. STEERING. COST IS ABOUT 25K. AND BULLIT PROOF. THE PRIOR POST IS A DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER; I JUST NEED TO RATTLE SOME BRAIN CELLS TO REMEMBER WHO BUILT IT!!
