MX-14

Hello all. I am new to this board, but by sight name I think I found the right place. I have a 1970 MX-14 that I completely restored and re-equipped with a 90 Merc, Hydraulic steering, Bob's Low Water pickup, Bob's 5n1 Jack, and Bob's True Tracker. I am running a Laser 22 pitch prop. I have a problem with porposing at mid speeds, any ideas?

My modified tunnel Hydrostream Virage did the same thing. It got to be pretty annoying. The only way I found to keep the bounce down was to change speeds or tuck the engine way under.

It's basically a balance issue, between your prop, engine setback, bow weight, and hull design. You could play with all that and improve it, but you may adversely affect the performance at another speed. I know of a couple guys that installed a bow tank, connected it to the original aft tank, and pumped gas fore and aft to rebalance the boat for different uses........

I moved all my weight to the stern. I had a bow tank and that scared the hell out of me when I got her opened up. I was considering fixed fixed trim tabs? Last resort a pad?

A pad will not help the porpose. My tri mate does the same thing. If I slow down and don't tuck the engine back in I will bounce.
If I tuck in, the bounce goes away.

I was going to put some of her up today, but I do not have any recent of her in the water...I'll have some next weekend!! I love Florida.

How's the weather down there. Great place for the All-Star game... It's pretty cold up here in Ottawa, Ontario. Yesterday was a good day at like -3 through -5. Better than -40 like we had last week...

Checkmates may not be the fastest boats on the water, but they are the nicest looking!

I wouldn't be complaining, its frezzing up here!
