I HAVE A 1990 CHECKMATE 198 PACIFICA I GOT IT IN SEPT OF LAST YEAR AND I LOVE IT,I AM CURRENTLY CHANGING IT OVER TO THOUGH HULL EXHUST. I LOVE MY CHECKMATE SEE YA ON THE WATER.

heres a little update ive got the exhust on it sounds sweet ( well i had to start it ) so now i have a few more things i want to do and then wait for spring ( that cant get here fast enough) to try it out.
 
What I found with my Persuader:

With the exhaust through the prop, I got 59 mph on GPS. With the exhaust through the transom, I got 54!

Mine had a single 4-bbl carb, and because I didn't re-tune the carb jets for the open exhaust, I lost a lot of power.
