Thanks Mark, The center of the shaft is at 3 1/4 below the pad. I am running 18 pounds of water pressure at WOT. No signs of slipping at any time so far with the Laser II. Are you thinking that the Laser II may be the best shot. My only question is this, won't the hole shot become worse as the engine is lifted on up higher or will the higher revs created from lifting the engine help the take off ? One other thing, I have never removed the plugs on the Laser, That may help the hole shot some. I do have one other prop I am going to try. It's a 14 x 21 Trophy Plus 4 blade. Is it correct to think that a 4th blade will slow down the revs some in the same pitch. In other words will the 4 blade SS bite like a 22 pitch 3 blade SS or bite harder than a 14 x 21 three blade ????Mark said:

Raising the engine will actually help your holeshot as you should spool up faster since the prop isn't buried as deep. And you will see way better hole shot with the plugs out. Yes, I think you already have the right prop with the Laser. They are the prop for a V6 on a light weight hull.
However, if you can't get the revs up to 5500 then you need to drop in pitch. The 21" Trophy will probably rev like a 22" 3 blade. So, maybe that will do the trick.
For reference, I turned a 22" Laser to 5500 RPM with my 130 Yamaha and the 135 Merc is a stronger motor being a V6, so do the math.

Good deal Mark that sounds like a plan. I will retest the Laser with the plugs out then test the Trophy. After that I will go up 1/2 inch on the jack plate and retest the two props a second time. Man.........this test and tune thing can be a lot of work

Im not expert on flying a V-hull... but I think you ought to find your optimal trim angle... somewheres around 0 degrees trim (not buried at negative trim, but trim so the boat flys level and spray is coming off the hull behind the driver atleast...)and work up in the speed department... if you've got it at WOT and then bump up the trim everything is going to be happening ALOT faster. Take the balance thing slow and work your way up in speed. The hull will start lifting a lot around 55ish (assuming this is real speed ie. GPS speed???) even around 55-60 on your speedo I guess though... So set your trim and then drive up to the point where it lifts and begins to walk, and then counter the walk with small steering motions in the opposite direction that the boat is falling, someone can explain this to me better as Ive not done it hahah but Ive read enough about it to visualize lol...

The 14x21 Trophy Plus and the 13.75x23 Laser II run the same RPM AT WOT. The Laser runs 5 mph faster. The Trophy has the good hole shot. It's not just good it's KILLER. After removing the plugs from the Laser and going up 1/2" on the jack plate the Laser's hole shot is way better. It still boggs down some but not nearly 1/2 as much as before. The Trophy made the back of the boat feel like it was slipping around on ice. I didn't like that at all. The Laser runs solid as a rock and goes in turns like it is on a rail. I think the Laser is the prop I need to stick with. (Good call Mark) I plan on doing just what you said and continue to go up on the jack plate and see how it does. I still have 18 pounds at WOT even after this last 1/2" adjustment and I also picked up one mile per hour. Thanks Fred!

Best action shot I have for now. I was almost wide open
Wicked just got back in from the lake heres how I have mine setup. 3 inches below pad, h2o pres. 18 lb wot no scoops, rpm 5500, two people and a cooler. wot 60mph no chinewalk at all. I think Iam going to raise it up another 1/2 inch and maybe find a 22 laser. Let where your at on your boat.

Strange how your boat runs just like my boat. All kidding aside I need to sey thanks. You were a lot of help in getting my boat set up. I went up on the JP another 1/2" but it started to loose pressure and it also felt like it was wanting to blow out some on take off. The pressure dropped from 18 to 15 at WOT so I went back down. One question Derrick. Is the hole shot kind of slow or really strong on your boat. Thanks Fred!!

Here's my two cents Wicked. When I went from 3 inches up to 2 inches on my Enchanter it was a different boat. Better hole shot...on plane faster...no chine walk at WOT. Here's something you might check for your water flow problem...even though it sounds like you are ok with that. When I puchased my boat I had terrible pressure and high temps. Discovered that my thermostats were not working right because they were covered in sand. The grit was preventing them from opening. Two new thermostats later...problem solved.

Matt, the scoops did a super job. They are kind of strange to look at, they almost look like block off plates and they also look way easy to clog up. I'm at 3" below the pad and if I run a line down the pad it shows that only 1 or 2 of the pick up holes are going to be in the water at WOT. I run 18 to 19 pounds of pressure at WOT with the scoops, with no scoops I only had 10 to 12 pounds and that was with the shaft at 4 1/4" below the pad. I think that I am maxed out at 3" and with the scoops, if I go up another 1/4" the pressure starts to fall off and it wants to blow out some. (ps) thanks for the hot-foot tip.

hey wicked I just put my trimate 2 in this week and I get 5-7psi at idle and 15-17 psi at 7-8000 rpm I put a temp gauge on and mercs like to run at 210 degrees. I have a load of problems too my black max is 200 + hp and I get blow out and can't get her to chine walk and my max speed on gps was 49 mph
