Just bought a checkmate a couple months ago, been working on it non stop trying to get it ready for the summer. Been on the forum for a little while and havent really introduced myself so figure i would. Not totally sure on the model, but looking at pictures, i think its a 1986 exciter. Just got done painting it so i figured it post some pics of it up. If you have any advice on what i should do on the setup, let me know.

Welcome! Nice paint job you did. I just hope you don't end up spending the summer scrubbing oil off from the spill.
I wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing that all the way up the Eastern Seaboard.

yea, thats been the big news down here. I guess well wait and see what happens. If its not oil spills, then its hurricanes.... always something.

Yeah, but the nice thing about hurricanes is that eventually they go away.(at least for awhile)

Where at in the keys? I want to come down for one of the screamandfly keys runs this summer...

There are alot of hi-performance boaters in the Keys.,,by the dozens on any given sunday at the Tiki Bar sandbar!! Alot of the guys run Actions and Hydrostreams. It will be great to see a nice Checkmate mixing it up down there!:thumb:

Build update

So i got some work done during the memorial weekend so figure id update on whats been done with it now.
Carpet is in. i made a reinforcement metal plate for the transom, 5200 it in, and screwed in. Got the rigging tube all screwed in. Got the side trim pieces cut and got studs put in, just gotta get them covered this week. Got the bobs jackplate put on, and a 20inch merc mid set on the jackplate. Got the harness coming this week so im waiting to put that in, and gonna screw the shifter setup in tommorow, and try and get the starboard dash panel made this week. So the build is coming along.

Sorry for the hijack, but where is a good place to buy 3M 5200??

:offtopic:Post Hijacker !!!!!! :D

I get it from US Composites, they sell a full caulk gun tube for about the same as most places sell the little tubes for. And I've found you can make it last a long time by carefully sealing the outlet (take the nozzle off) with electrical tape and sealing the bottom with duct tape.

Oh, and gash, that's great looking paint.
