Hey, my names jon. I got a 1972 checkmate mx16.,, Two owner boat. All origional boat ,,motor, trailer, interior. 130 hp Chrysler outboard. Cant figure out how to post pics, but you guys gotta see this boat. Its like a time capsule. Let me know how to post pics and ill get um up. anyone in the STL area? Thanks

:welcome:
To do pics you have 2 options,
put your pics on a site such as photobucket.com and copy and paste from there to here or become a supporting member and post them directly here.
If you still can't get them up email them to a member to do for you.

Welcome! Can't wait to see the set up. My best buddy's family owned a marina here on the lake when we were kids and they were a Chrysler dealer for many years. I have a soft spot for those old white motors.

John

bfm, I can't wait to see your MX......I like the old flat deck 16's. The early 70s Chryslers were pretty descent OBs back in the days.

As far as i know those are original seats. Who would recover them like that?!!!!?
Actually, except for a split at the top of the buckets, its useable. They will get redone this winter. Mabey someone can shed some lige on if these are original? Id like to know

Nice classic Check, I like it. Are you going to stay original on the interior or put in something a little less 70's:confused:

Welcome to the forum of Check obsession.
I'm also pretty new to this forum with a recent Check purchase and have quickly figured out there are a bunch of guys in this forum that really know their ***** about Checkmates --- when you need help or have questions about your boat, there will be somebody here that's "been there done that".
Aside from the technical crap, there are also quite a few sick bastards here.{sick in a good way}.

OK now about the pics of your boat....
Your description of "time capsule" was perfect, that boat rocks and brings back some very fond memories --- as a matter fact, I'm pretty sure I just got an LSD flashback looking at those kool seats ----- I'm gonna put my head phones on, burn a doobe, and listen to some Hendrix and go back and look at those pics again :-)
It would be nice to see her kept original....as we say up here in NewEngland---- that boat is wicked kool.

I have alot of people tell me they like the interior. I like it too, but I have no idea where I would find reproduction material for the seats (mabey grandmas kitchen chairs!!) I love the chrysler, it runs like a top, but I may opt for a bigger merc for more speed. I will keep the chrysler on a stand just so I can say I have the origional motor. I am going to have alot of fun with it, Already mounted a set of stacker pipes on the chrysler and jetted the carbs. Gonna run her this weekend and see what kind of gains I get. Wet sanded and buffed the top of the boat back to its origional shine. People that see it think I repainted and restored this boat. The are very suprised when I tell them its origional, hahaha. THanks to everyone for the kind words.
