New checkmate'r

Hey guys, from Northern Ontario! Bought this checkmate in April 2011 and used it every weekend all summer into november!
The boat was painted and this made the hull ID # unrecognizable so I am not sure of the year or model. Can you guys help me out with that?
I know it is around 19-20ft long and originally had a 235 Johnson. Later repowered with this 97? Mariner 200 EFI. Is this a 2.4L? I know its the larger block.
THANKS! Love this website.

Sure is! :bigthumb:
Don't let it sit in the water all summer though, you'll blister the bottom

Nice boat but I'm confused, did you not get any paperwork with it? How will you register it without knowing the hull ID?

I paid sales tax on it, and they said all I needed was a pleasure craft license for the boat. The only number required for the licencing on the boat was the number on the front (43E-11751). I showed the boat cops my pleasure craft license, boating licence and they let me go with no problems.

Thanks for all the welcomes and compliments on the boat, I know its not the best but I love it and will for a long time!
What causes the blistering on the hull in water? I keep it on the trailer, sometimes leave it in the water from friday to sunday night.

You say you've never seen one of these 'Ski Mates'. Is that because no one bought them ? I barely ever see another checkmate around here. Mostly hydrostreams and J-crafts which I do not like!

Anyone have tips on keeping the thing steady when it hits the 'pad' and starts getting scary haha! Its not bad when i have a passenger but with just me it can get pretty wild.

I have 2 other mariners but they are 20hp and 9.9 so I am not sure on the reliability of these 2.5L engines but it ran all summer without missing a beat. Do you guys like these motors? The oil injection was disconnected and I am running pre-mix 50:1 with seafoam and injector cleaner once in a while.

Thanks alot guys! Checkmate for life!

No one have any awnsers to my questions? I know its winter but Im sure we all cant stop thinking about the boats!

Which questions are you needing answers to coop posted this about the model and year span

but without the HIN it could be really hard to pin point the exact year. on most titles have the HIN number is on them (here in the states) and it should be stamped into the rear of the boat. with the HIN you can call checkmate and them may have a ton of information on your boat.
