So its almost 3 am so I got about 3.5 hours til I'm done with my shift and I'm tired so thats where this is coming from...
I think I'm gonna be on the loosing side of this but what the heck

Which do you think would be faster?

A 259 with 1 1350 or a 283 with 2 of them?

Either way both should run 115 or so right?

I konw the guy that sold me mine had a procharged 572 in a 259 and he was claiming 110 mph and I don't think he had the power of the 1350.
What do you guys think?

If I'm stupid, be easy on me its been a long day!!! LOL

I think the limitation on both would be the handling over a hundred...
the guy that built/sold mine said that they stop chime walking over 90 but gettin there first is tricky
I know none of us can buy one of those right now but it was fun to bs about
thanks for playing

both boats only need one

I think a single 1350 is going to get either boat into the 110-115 range if set up and driven properly. I don't think either boat can put one under the factory hatch(too tall) and I think "check 300/Bill" also had to do work(transom) to get the #6 drive in his boat?

If someone did it, I'd drool.

You can't run a #6 with a 1350 it has to be an M8, they sheer the prop shafts off the 6 or at least thats what I was told.

If I had a 1350, I wouldn't have a Checkmate!:sssh:

Well maybe the new 43.

If it was not a Checkmate, what would it be?

There are nicer boats out there but man its hard to beat a check with a BAD motor.
I know someday i might want to own a 38 top gun, but I don't think I could bear to part with my 259 and I don't think my wife will let me have both.:D

259 - 300 .....

I would add that 300 hulls is much better than 270 with high HP....more running area for speeds your talking about. Don't even think 2 1350's would even fit in 300 without extensive mods. We sold a bunch with 502 / 454 MPI's way back but don't think there was much room left i engine compartment ! New ownership won't even sell 300 with dual big blocks...mostly for newer Mercruiser certification issues or possible issues. It's been my experience that single is way to go on 300 unless you can keep weight down with high HP small blocks. That would make for an interesting package ! We are getting ready to build a customer sold 300 in next few weeks with a single 700 ....NXT drive.... should be interesting ! I'll keep you all posted when we get it done and tested..... : )

Keep us posted for sure on that one! I want to see how that looks and runs!

Don't get me wrong Checkmate is top of the list in the minor leagues.
If I could afford a 1350 I would like to think I could afford a boat that should have one, which would be in the major league. Checkmate is breaking into the majors with the 43 but for now I would like something along the lines of http://www.outerlimitspowerboats.com/41SL.htm.:bigthumb:
The styling and cadillac like features are just no joke, luxury and bad azz.

i to am partial to the outerlimits, and the sonics :thumb:

Yeah if I could afford a boat with 1350 power that would be a DCB hands down.

dcb would be my choice if I didn't want the cabin. There nice but I need a bathroom for the money or should I say the wife needs one.

I'd want a MTI, Outerlimits, or DCB if I could afford the kind of coin :D Then again, the other issues come into hand like having 3-4 people to help with docking, loading, transportation, etc with the larger boats.
In the short time I have had the 283, I love the boat and can not see getting anything different other than a newer one. I am glad I ended up with the 283/300 over the 303/320 just for the ease in moving it around on land
