Hey guys just joined the site! I'm going to look at a Persuader tonight. Anyone have any info on them good or bad?

:welcome:

I don't know much about them, but multiple people have raised porpoising issues with persuaders in the past. As with all boats, a test run will make sure you like what you're getting into. I'll see if I can find those threads.

:welcome: Persuaders are a hull where the bulk of the weight is in the stern so the bow tends to be very sensitive to trim and the amount of "bow lift" a propeller has. Most of the time this can be eliminated by changing props or adjusting/adding trim tabs. They are a very fast and fun boat. Good luck and let us know what the owner says about it and feel free to post some pics! If you have any questions after looking at it, feel free to send them our way.

Well the :bounce::bounce: kind of spooks me off. I'm from the jet boat world but have been wanting to get into a little bit bigger ride. Here is a pic of the one that I'm looking at.

that is a really nice looking Persuader! I love the blue gel coat. What are the details on it? engine, setup, price, ect.?

It's a 1992 with 454 not a 100% sure on how much I can get it for but it's probably around the $5,500 mark. I think my wife and I are going to look at it today.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me......from what I can see in the picture, the gelcoat is nice and shiny (I can see the ground reflectiong in the side). If it is clean and runs good, I would go for it.

That was my same thinking with the gel coat. It's on consignment so the person on the phone wasn't all that helpful and informative. Anything in particular that I should be looking for on it? He did act like the seats were a little faded and worn etc..

Interior vinyl can be replaced with new skins right from the factory. They are usually about half the price versus custom shops because they have all of the materials in stock and have the patterns still. They are awesome about supplying restoration stuff. I would check all the fluids in the motor and fire it if that is possible. I usually tap my knuckles all over the transom and bottom checking for any inconsistant noises that might indicate a soft spot. Make sure there are no visual structural cracks or defects and check the floor for any soft spots and make sure all of the electrical is functioning. If it is solid, runs good, and just needs some vinyl, I would go for it. That is a nice boat.

That is a beautifull boat!!!! For $5,500 bucks that seems like a smokin' deal if it runs as good as it looks. One of the guy's i run with once in a while has a 23' Persuader with the 502 in it, runs upper 70's GPS and i've never heard him complain about any ill-handling issues. Good luck man, hope ya end up gettin it!

The plan is to go look tomorrow night now. It's a consignment deal so they don't have much info for me about how it runs etc.. I'm kind of new to the outdrive stuff so I'm not a 100% sure what to check and look for on that given I don't have a lot of info on it. I hope it runs as good as it looks!

Well, I went to look at the boat last night. I guess a guy put a deposit on it from the time that I left the house to there. It was about an hour away so that really sucks. I looked at it and it appears to be a pretty nice boat. However, it was an open bow. That would be fine I was just hoping for a closed. Anyway, all in all it sucks that I drove up there for nothing and missed out on a great deal. Oh yeah forgot to mention it was a one owner boat as well.

That sucks that you missed out on that boat. It looked like it was in great condition for a really nice price. Hope you find something soon.
