hi to all i just bought my first checkmate and found this site while trying to find out what year and model mate i actualy bought.

can anyone tell me where i might get some info on poss. repairs or even to help me find out what kind of mate i bought open bow walk tru winshield outboard it had a gas tank built into the boat the transome is not straight across it slopes down where the motor mounts i don't have any pics yet but would also like to know how to post pics so i can post pics as i overhaul.
i live in green bay wi. so if anyone knows of a dealer or shop that could possibly help me please let me know.
thanx in advance

welcome to the site and congrats on the new used checkmate. There are alot of guys here who will be able to help you out. Posting pictures is easy. Once we see some pics we will be able to identify the hull. Any idea on what year it is, or how long it is?
Again congrats, the fun begins for you now.

hi adam
it is about 16'
and by the serial # i am being told by other boat dealers in my area it is a 1977
do i have to send pics to upload for me or is there a place i can upload myself?
thanx for the welcome mat
lol

hi snsg, It sounds like you may have a Trimate. If you want to post pictures here you'll have to register at Photobucket.com (for free) and get the IMG code to post here. If you have trouble doing that than either myself or somebody else can post them for you. welcome and looking forward to see the photos.

thanx boston for the info i registered and will try it out tomm. when i take some pics.
thanks again

Welcome to the board. Sounds like you have a trimate. Pics will help us identify the hull. Again welcome. Let me know if you have trouble posting pics.

it sounds like an old Trimate to me. Since I am such a big fan of old Trimates, email the pics to me and I will get them up for you. My email is barrycooperider@yahoo.com

thanx coop i found out it is a 1977 tri mate II
i think it was repainted at one time ( white )
i think it is in good shape but it needs some tlc that is right up my alley.
i need to find someone to do the paint job or gel.
from what i have been reading it sounds like you know alot about this subject.
are you interested in it and how far are you from wi. border?
does anyone have any info on load ratings for a 77 trimate II my sticker is gone or painted over.

i too just bought my first used checkmate but on the other hand i know what mine is its a 1984 enchanter its got a good deck and a strong transom as well the windshield is in perfect shape and overall the boat is in great shape i think whoever owned it previously didnt use it much and when the did it was in fresh water im going to be repowering the "boat"(havent picked a name yet) with a 96 or newer 200hp YAMAHA im also redoing most of the cosmetic stuff new carpet, cushions etc... i live in south fl and hope to meet some new people with the need for speed and the appreciation of a good looking and well built boat

hi check nice to see another newbee here lol
hope you have as much fun with your new mate as i plan to.
i was born and raised in key west fl. i miss the ocean lakes are to calm for me. lol
coop would you be interested in doing a paint job?

If it hadn't been painted, I'd consider haveing you bring it down to work on between project.

But stripping paint is nasty.

YEAH I KNOW THATS WHY I DONT WANT TO TOUCH IT MYSELF THANK YOU FOR WRITING BACK.
I THINK I MIGHT JUST ENJOY IT THIS YEAR AND REDO NEXT YEAR.

Thats what I would do with it.

This fall I am gonna have a local joint vocational school do a boat for me, maybe I can get some kid interested in working for me.

Coop, I never thought of taking a boat to a vocational school to be painted. I went to a vocational school and the auto body shop painted cars all the time. I spend a few months in the auto body shop and painted an El Camino and a MG. Do you think they will be able to do a boat okay?

Talk to the insructor, this year so you can try to get something set up for next year.

They might be ready for something different.
