new johnyrudes

Bakedgoods, did you sell that 115? Or got any inexpensive used motors to fit a light Vector?

Ok guy's i want info on the rudes. I love mercs too but i need input on the junnyrudes. They are cheaper to buy and you could sell a mate at a better price with one .But do they perform? Problem free?

I think the 'Rudes sell themselves with that LOOOOONG warranty they offer. Another thing my local dealer told me was that they haven't delivered ANY with the ECU reprogrammed for the expensive oil. So far they've all gone out the door with the standard programming for the regular oil.

My local OMC dealer at the cottage told me how great the FICHT motors were going to be too. And they're a piece of poop. Time will tell if these new JohnnyRude motahs are as good as they're cracked up to be. Any company can put a good marketing program together and slap a long warranty on something.

Up here in the great white north, Hyundai cars have the longest warranty of all the companies....

Time will tell on these new Rudes.

Well merc fans, all I know is that i'm pretty impressed with the 225 H.O DI. I can spank most if not all the 250 opti's with my mate. 225 to a 250 ummmmm..... seems fare to me!!

If its black send it back!!

J.W.
I am keeping the 115 in addition to the 200 for now. I am going to run the 115 on a manual jack plate until I can save enough side cash to do the 200 project. It cost alot more than I expected. Plus I want to see if Illmattic
keeps his boat in one piece after doing the same project. I'd rather let him be Chuck Yeager.

Brian:

Bring that Rude over to the Minnesota get together so I can send you back to your trailer with my 175 Black Motah.

Jim

jkeiper, What time would you like me there? And how heavy is your boat? This way I will know how strong of a tow rope to bring, so you don't fall to far behind!!

p.s. its all about the fun

I can tell you this.

If I'm ordering a brand new Pulsare today. I'm putting a 250XS Opti on the back. And that sucker will fly no doubt.

Give it a summer or two and we'll see how great these new Rudes are. Warranties mean chit if your motah spends all it's time with your dealer. And then when the warranty runs out, what then?

What's a I/O with an OMC drive unit worth these days? ZERO and it's tough to get parts from what I hear. And I remember all the OMC guys touting the OMC drives as far superior in many ways, and also because they tilted right up, unlike the Mercruisers. Again, OMC didn't last and Mercruiser did.

Time will tell.

Hey i like that my omc i/o tilts right up and for a twenty plus year old drive(model 800) behind a 5.7 it works great.the old omc's were great it's when they went cuput from buying all the boat co's like merc is doing now. we will see as you said time will tell but i think the new e-tecs will be fine .Dont get me wrong I like merc alot!!!!!!!!!!!! but yamaha makes the powerheads for the big motors and tohatsu makes the small motors. So 50c in one hand and two 25c in the other its all personal preferance. If you take care of them they all are decent motors.but I digress .

Brian:

Shoot, if we raced across the lake to have supper, the waitress would be bringing the check to my table before you got there.

Actually I was looking at the specs. for your boat and was amazed at how much lighter yours is.
Jim

jkeiper, Maybe so...... if I only had one blade left on the prop. But the real deal is we would be eating supper in the middle of the lake, cause i'd already picked up the food, did two laps around the lake, and still get to you with hot food....... Do you like chicken or steak? Or how about merc well done!!

If your talking breakfast the next morning, I'll take steak and eggs.
lol.gif
Actually, isn't it the Ficht motors that become well done?

Jim

I'll take steak and eggs too. Sounds good, but I'll tell you what, you keep that merc(Gas Hog) at the dock and I'll get breakfast with the Rude. This way here you'll still have enough gas to get spanked later in the day. .......By the Rude!

WWW.Mrcurymarine.com says comparative weight of a 200 verado 635/288 for the 20"shaft and 649/294 for the 25" shaft. That is a base engine. I thought we were talking about the verado not the optimax....sorry merc fans you verado is heavy and for us with small boats don't need unneeded weight.... There are other engines beside the first new thing that is still unproven... Who owns a 200 verado with 400+ hours on it. Not to many people so it is still real unproven untill we get feed back on people who bought them and have used them on how good this engine actully is. Of course you got your hard core merc guys and omc guys but common sence tells you never buy the first new thing untill you get unbios reviews not just what the dealer tells you or on the spec sheet.
That spec sheet does' tell me S@#$ when im stuck borke down because i didn't research and get info from the people who buy theses engines.. NOT TRING TO BE A HATER...
