Hi I am looking at buying a checkmate 240 enforcer and I have a few questions if someone could help me out that would be awesome
first question what is the difference between a enforcer and a convincor the boat i am looking at is 1988
second question it has a bravo 2 leg is that ok or should I look for a bravo 1 ?
third question the owner says the boat goes 72 it has a fairly well built 496 in it does that sound plausible ?
thanks guys I am pretty excited to get a checkmate but they are super rare up here there is lots for sale down south but shipping up here is the major concern it puts the pricing off the boat out of my league at the current time ..I am working on a budget unfortunately

Welcome to the Obsession!

1.--An 88 enforcer would be a 24' boat with a shallower deadrise angle than a Convincor which is 24* deadrise. Convincor also has much higher freeboard(much taller hull sides). Basically an Enforcer is more of a sit-down boat whereas a Convincor is more of a stand-up boat. Post some pics of what you are looking at for more insight.
2. --I doubt it has a bravo 2. Those were very large gear case legs that spin 18" diameter props for cruisers. One pic of it would confirm.
3.--No way it will go that fast if a bravo 2. A 240 enforcer with a mild 496 should run in the 72 range with bravo drive. Post up a build sheet of the motor and I could tell you more. A 496 could be poorly built and make 400 hp, or it could be well built and make 600 hp. Big range in between that is decided on what parts are in it and how well they were assembled.

:welcome: Welcome to the Forum. You found a great great place for a wealth of knowledge useful information. Best of luck on your future purchase.:thumb: Jim

:welcome: to the forum! Gimme Fuel is pretty on on his info! Pics would tell a lot. But I am with him in thinking that it would not have a Bravo 2 and if it does that would need to go!

I know the motor that is in it was built by a well known engine builder up here it has the same specs as the 496 in my chevelle my chevelle engine made 720 hp and 665 tourque this motor is almost identical internally just it has 782 oval port heads as opposed to my afr rectangle port ones on the car so it is prolly a 650 horse engine....I dont know how to attach a picture

I would think that's pretty easy with that setup as long as there is a b1 on the rear end. Friend of mines father has a beautiful one with a stock 350 and an alpha and it can run 58-60.
