new member...looking at 1984 enticer..opinions wanted

Welcome to the board. Have a good look at the transom, floor and interior for soft spots. Get the copression numbers for the engine. Not a bad price if everything checks out.

I owned a 1987 Enticer for 10+ years and loved it. It was a great boat. To me $5500 seems high. And with a 200 it is way overpowered. 82 mph ????

looks like a very clean boat to me. That is alot of hp for some guys for sure but just about right for a checkmate owner.

If it is set up properly 80mph is probably about right. It looks to be in great shape. Never heard of an After Burner

Definately take a good look at the floor and transom.

Get the serial numbers for the motor and make sure its a 1989. THe brown decals on the cowl are from 1984-1985. Maybe he just put old ones on to match the boat but check to be sure.

Not sure what $5,500 CAN. is in US dollars, but if it is in great shape I would think its a decent deal.

If you do buy it be sure to get pleanty if seat time. A 200 on that boat is going take some time to master.

bought it

Took it for a nice test drive and talked with the mechanic that inspected it a couple months ago. The compression level were all about 120lbs. The boat was in very good shape. The floor in the front was a little soft.

Thanks for your opinions.

Now I want to buy a service manual for the engine. Any recommendations ?
Clymer vs Seloc ?

steering very stiff

The steering is very stiff...

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm assuming it's the cabling.

Such as:
1. Can the cable be greased ?
2. If cable replacement is the best option, what and where to buy it ? What cable am I looking for ?

thanks in advance

i couldnt imagine a 200 on the back of my enticer:drool: i really want a new vmax 150 for next season, with 120 compression it sounds like the motor is still nice and fresh.
