New member,V200 Black Max question....

Hey fellas!New member here.I suppose I'll start off with a probably simple question. Is the lower section of the engine cover difficult to get off on the V200 Black Max?I have Clymer Mercury service manual, and it doesn't really show how to remove it.Any photos/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the board. Great looking boat.
If by the lower part of the engine cover you mean the bottom plate or base. Yes its a job. You have to remove the power head to get it off.

If it is a stock 989? cowling on the Black max then you have to remove about half a dozen 5/16" headed screws so you can seperate the halves. I believe the heads are on the port side of the motor. Don't forget the ones by the steering link arm.

I've done a lot of work to my banana baby,so thanks for the compliment. The plastic lower cowling is what I'd like to remove.I noticed only two 5/16 bolts port side, one at the rear, one in the middle.no luck.:irked: It seems a little design goofy that I'd have to completely disassemble to just remove the plastic lower cowling. Any one have some photos or possibly a writeup on the removal of the plastic?
