New to site. Just got first checkmate.

84enticer

New member
I am new to this site, have recently purchased an 84 enticer with a merc 115.needs work, upholstery, paint etc.. but got one. Have wanted a checkmate since my first ride in one over 5 years ago. First run out hit 43 gps no trim, was scared not having a tach. Second run out changed prop from 19 to 23, gps 46 but not gettin rpms, overpropped. Any help figuring out why it dies sometimes and ball wont stay tight would be appreciated. All in all gonna be an extremely fun boat.

Take your serial number and go to the Mercury dealer and get a fuel pump diaphragm kit for it.

I got thinking about this after I posted. I also agree the diaphragm in the fuel pump going bad will give you loss of pressure in the bulb

This may not be your current issue but I have found that the screen in the fuel pick-up line in the tank can get plugged over time. I had this problem with both of my mates. The one I just bought was plugged with plastic shavings from whoever drilled the holes in the tank while rigging the boat.

plus...just could be a bad fuel line and ball....sucking air somewhere....that has happened to me before.

thanks for the welcome and ideas

I have already replaced the fuel line/ bulb assembly. Will try the diaphram kit this week. Boat will take off, get on plane, and then die, will die idling sometimes. Doesnt do either all of the time, but enough to be aggravating.
