New Year 2011 in Germany

Thanks for the videolink. You actually know this guy?
Talk about committed! He certainly gets an A for effort. I'm not sure what to give him for brains or equipment care.
I think the key word is committed. Probably should be.

Yes I know him. He is my neighbor and best friend and a little bit crazy in his head (as you can ses) :bounce:

It is his tradition to make a "new years ride" and there is almost nothing what could stop him (as you also can see)

It needed the whole 1st January to pick a whole in the ice for the boat, and about 2 full hours to reach open water without ice (around 200 meter distance).
Unfortunately the batteries of the cam were nearly empty.

At the beginning, I thought you were somehow going to try boating on your neighborhood street.

they would have been in deep crap if the ice would have ripped the transom out motor and all...going in that water would not last long !!!

I bet the neighbors were impressed.....

in my experience, Germans were not to tolerant of "stepping out of line", at least in Hessen...

That looks like Big John (Lamon) leaving his place for a ride about the end of May!

LMAO, the funny part is that looks like the channel in front of my place, I do take my boat out in the spring when there is still ice on the lake but the Checkmate NEVER comes in contact with any ice, these guys are nuts:eyecrazy:

I did do pretty much the same thing with a 84' Glastron Carlson CVX 16 that had a rotten transom, I had already bought a replacement hull so we took it out in the ice and beat the hell out of it before I pulled the motor a hauled it to the dump, funny thing was there wasn't even any scratches on it, the best part was hitting shore at 50 mph when we were done.

I ain't even gonna try to beat this guy at ice boating, he can have the title, he must have really wanted to go for a boat ride.
