Any one boat on Lake Cumbland or has done the House Boat trip on it.I've been down there a couple of times and was planning a third time. But with the Dam giving way they have to drop the water level to new record lows and it could be up to seven years before its all straightened out. Here some pics from apx 10 days ago and thier saying it needs to drop another three feet.

where is this lake? those pictures are amazing - i've never seen anything like that before. why did the dam give way - old age?

The lake is in lower Kentucky. Its kinda a big tourist spot for the area.Properly 7 or 8 house boat companys operate on the lake. The earthen damn is like over 60 yrs old and has been miss managed. The lake has been kept at a higher level over to many years causing undo pressure on the the damn.

Coop always the practical one.

Some areas where some marinas were ( on coves etc) are gone, but the main lake isnt that much different. We were just down there this weekend testin a boat weve been restoring. The jamestown marina ramp works fine (we put in a 42ft 16-17k pounder), but is reduced to only one ramp right now. The state dock I believe is supposed to have their ramp ready in a few weeks. If trailering a boat there, I would recommend gettin there reealy early to load with only a few ramps probably working this year. hope it helps

Lake cumberland

The lake level looks awful. But if you are looking for a deal on a boat you will get one this summer here when people get pissed. Low water levels means cheap boats the deals will fly here.

hey guys, this is my home lake. yes they have dropped the lake level so work can be done to repair the leak in the dam. their is still plenty of water in this lake since it is 101 miles long. they are working on extending many of the ramps as we speak. hopefully the ramps will be ready for boating season. those of us that trailer our boats will be the ones who will be most affected, because of less ramps to launch from. only time we tell how much people will be willing to wait at the ramps to launch and the parking problems that might come up. if you go to our lake web site you can read all about our leaky dam problem. www.lakecumberland.com hope every one has a safe summer!!
