Nice 2002 Checkmate 30 Convincor

I'm wondering why they have one hatch instead of two on this model. My '99 283 has two.

Any ideas on a top speed for this boat with that power? I've done 75.6 in my 283 with 454 Mag EFI's. Gotta think this boat is gonna beat that.

From what I have seen before, I would imagine very high 70's if not able to just break the 80 mark. this one has a pretty minimalist cabin also.....I bet it is a runner if propped right.

No, I don't believe that they are rated at the prop anymore. This has always been a debate. The only things that seem to be prop hp are outboards. Take an ole 260 mercruiser and it will probably yield 260 hp on an engine dyno. If a 496 MAG HO was 425 prop shaft hp, then there would be hardly a difference between that and a HP500 (470 crank hp).

From what I have seen on prop dyno results, a Bravo I drive has around 10% parasitic loss.

I know the boat as its one of the ones I looked at. It was described as spotless, kept inside a heated and A/c garage. Then I get pics of some faded out boat with damage from a tree stump on the side rear. Best speed was 75. Came from MD right around where Keith is. To give you an idea, the new 08 300 in IL with twin 496 mags runs 83 all day and best of 86gps. Something tells me there is something wrong that this boat only see's 75.....

Interesting. I suspect that PBC has likely gone through the boat and taken care of any issues. They turn a lot of boats and have a full shop. Regardless, a person can always have a boat checked out by a 3rd party, too.

Any more info/pics on that '08 300? I'd like to see that. I'd be d*mn impressed with that speed in a stock set-up like that.

I stopped and looked at when it was here in MD. It was a rainy day so I only looked at the outside. Its got the damage shown in the pics and spider webing in a few spots. Needs a good buffing with a bit of wet sanding. The trailer has some rust in it.
It is a real good looking boat. I would have gone back to check the inside if it didn't have that glass dammage to the rear side and the wife insists the next boat will have a toilet you don't sleep on top of.

I checked on it and those gel issues were fixed before PBC acquired the boat. I know they also clean and polish them up extensively. They turn a lot of boats and I'm sure they wouldn't accomplish that without making sure they were ready to rock. :thumb:

The boat in the boattrader listing above is 98K ($98,000) It's an '08. Any body else think that is unrealistic?

It might have sold. It is not on their web site anymore..... As for being unrealistic, I think the $150k original price tag is unrealistic. Being it is a 5 year old new boat, the second you hook it to your truck, it will be a 5 year old used boat. I think the price should drop a bit more. Also the ad states "Custom triaxle trailer slightly extra" :shakehead: If it's pictured in the ad, then the price should include the trailer....

PBC says there hasn't been much interest expressed in this boat. What gives? Previous hull damage? Saltwater use? This boat really looks like a lotta bang-for-the-buck. Just curious.
