Northern Michigan Trip/ Pics

Problem Child

Here are a few pics of my trip to Mackinac Island and Higgins lake. When we made it home we kept the boat hooked up to the truck and went straight to the lake. I guess we just were not quite ready to end the vacation.

Looking good PC!

Is it the mineral content in the lakes up there that make them appear so green? It really looks like some nice water.

Beautiful boats out that way as well.

Im not sure what makes Higgins so green other than the extreme clarity and white sand bottom. You can easily see 30+ ft. deep and has depths at 140'. If you get a chance to get a google view of Higgins and Torch lakes amazing colors. The photos I have just don't bring it like it is in person.

My lake in SW Mich. gets green when the water temps rise above 80*. I'm pretty sure its the algae

My home lake gets the green from algae but Higgins is not the same. Torch Lake I believe is from the copper mining from around 1840- 1960s. Pure Michigan is all I can say.:surf:

Those are some nice pics problem child. That looks like a great place to go boating.

Just curious but does that Chief happen to be from the same mold as our new 43 punisher?

I have been told it is the Chief, but not for sure. You should come to Michigan to run with Ross for the Big Run in Traverse City.

Yes the 43 punisher is made from the chief molds. They only made one boat from that mold and went belly up and then the molds ended up getting stored at the cm plant there is a 50 page thread on so telling all about it if you ever get bored

So the 41 Chief is alive and well. The Punisher will be a very popular in time. They should sell very well.

The northern lower peninsula is the place to go. Lots of beautiful water ,sand dunes, Mackinac Island, Traverse City and many many casinos if your feeling lucky.

Sweet pictures problem child the ones of Mackinac island bring me to my home away from home witch is on bois blanc island mi. Witch is 2 islands east of Mackinac. My grandparents and family have a house on the island there. Iv have been going there every summer or almost every summer when I can. It's such a nice place. And the water is like no other. I'm hoping to bring my mx 15 out this year if I'm done with my restoration in time would be a lot of fun zipping around the islands. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Bois Blanc Island is very remote but nice. I also have an aunt that lives in N.Carolina all winter and has spent every summer on the island for more than 40 years. We have had several family reunions up there. If you ever get the chance to spend the 4th of July there if you gather with everyone on the north end you can watch 3 different fireworks going off at St.Ignace, Mackinac Island and Mackinac City. Quite a view with the bridge all lit up in the background. It is great to be able to bring the cars and toys over by the ferry and explore. I am wanting to get to Drummond Island some day.Good luck on getting the Mx 15 together, you are doing an amazing resto, summers just a click away! Jeff:thumb:

That's awesome it's a small world. Ya the island is a fun chill place I usually bring my dirt bike or quad. You could spend days out there not hitting the same trail. Ya I here the 4th is the time to go out there. I mostly go out in August. We are on the north end could see the fireworks no problem. If your ever out that way we on the water we are the ones with the big wooden flag pole. I made it like 6 years ago Ya I know it will be here soon. Working on it when I can. Thanks for the kind words. This is our view B2-4D5D5762C688-40357-00002D291C926497_zpsf3451055.jpg

That is quite a view of the "Mighty Mack" you guys have there. Cherish that place, there aren't many places left like Bois Blanc island. I think there are around 100 homes on the 10 mile long island of paradise. Thanks for the nice pics.
