Northwest Checkmate MX-13 restore

Slick

Active member
Greetings from Seattle although I'm originally from Eastern Washington (grew up boating on the Columbia River on the Wanapum Reservoir). Pictures are on their way. I've been working on this thing with my buddy since last October. We just got her back from the paint shop and she's looking sharp! Radiant Red!

Next, we install the carpeting, newly created seats (2 front buckets and my buddy has fabricated a rear bench seat in place of the two 'pad' seats that are stock).

We'll re-attach the original 72 Mercury 650. It will do fine. In a couple years, I'll explore new sources of power.

Question, what diamater was the steering wheel for a '72 Checkmate MX-13?

Thanks everyone!

Hey Slick, very nice vessel. Cool to see a fellow Checkmate owner in this neck of the woods. I'm just down the road from you.

wow

I have one of those in rough shape I picked up while looking at a jetski last year. makes me want to pull it in the garage and restore it lol. If I wasn't so dang poor I would lol..:bounce:

Nice!

Starting back on my mx-13 again. About to paint the bottom, then the top.
Getting a Johnson 60.

What kind of speed and what prop with that 65?

Looks like that motor needs to come way up.

Joe
