That is just to cool, thats the first I/O I have seen. Great looking boat.
What engine and what speed is she running?

Thanks for the complements. It has an 181ci 140hp mercruiser. I'm running a 21p ss prop and it is running on gps 47mph. If my wife would drive, maybe more. I wish I could get it to 50.

I always wondered if it was possible on a boat like this, to repower it with an o/b powerhead from a merc or a johnson 225. And adapt it somehow to your outdrive. The boat would move and I bet you'd save about 150lbs.

Nice looking boat. My first Checkmate was an identical twin to yours. 79 Trimate 4 with a 140 hp I/O Brown and Tan, named it the "Mississippi TURD". I ran a 21 Laser II @ 4600 and the best was 48 on GPS. It actually just showed back up on the water in our area a couple of weeks ago. Have fun.

hi,
I've got a trimate 4 from 1979 looks very similar to yours (I'll try and get some photos eventually) But mine has a rather interesting history. It's now in uk and fitted with Ford 302 V8 developing 240hp which gives approx 60mph! It's nice to finally find another example I was beginning to wonder if any others except the one on the brochure had been built! What are you revving at when at 47mph?
