ive got one that a customer had me remove for them, has the external pump .the bushings are toasted.do they have rebuild kits for them?not sure if its worth bothering with.has anybody rebuilt one? just wondering as i wouldnt mind having the option of moving my engine up or down:poke:

Which bushings are you talking about? If you are talking about the Nylatron washers (on the side of the main bolts that hold the plate that rides up and down, they are plasticky looking) then they are available from CMC directly (at least they were 2 years ago when I contacted them.) The part number is 6021, they cost $1.20 each (again 2 years ago) and you can order them directly by calling CMC at 1-800-654-3697, extension 2.

That's the info I got when I was fixing my older CMC jackplate. I'm going to have to order some this year myself, never got around to it each of the past 2 year because something catastrophic happened at the middle of the summer (flipped boat towing it home first year, motor scored a piston bore and I broke my foot 2 days later last year.)

thats the ones!

It cost me apx. $350.00 5 or 6 yrs ago to replace the pump on mine.

As to the pump, when I checked 2 years ago about replacing mine, they said the discontinued them about 3 years prior (total of 5 years ago) and the best they could do was give me a good deal on a completely new jackplate. Figuring I had nothing to loose, I took mine apart, freed up the rotating mass, and put it back together. It's worked the past two years since. Someone on here also mentioned that you could use a trim pump and some custom hoses, and the jackplate would work even faster.

Not threadjack but I got a 10 inch CMC manual that I was going put up for sale this weekend. PM me if interested. Only year old.

Eric

if you decide not to try and restore it

Let me know, I'm always game to attempt a restoration. I have had many a project where I have ended up spending more than buying new:brickwall:

I finally ordered the bushings myself. $9.80 for 4 shipped across the country, I ordered them on Monday and got them on Friday. Installed them and jackplate is running much smoother now.
