Operation:POWER TRANSPLANT

can you tell much difference between props?

how far below the pad are you now with the plate all the way up?

how much water pressure?

daren

My 21P QuickSilver rockets out of the hole and the Chopper slips a lot. It revs up to 5500rpm before it planes off. I'll need to measure my Pshaft/Pad distance again and I get 15-18psi.

I finally got my new to me prop today. It is a 26P LaserII that took me to 69.6mph on the gps so far. I had more throttle to give it but, it was windy and the boat was off ballance I was flying solo.

It was so hard to keep control I couldn't even keep a good eye on the tach and psi but I think I was at around 6200rpm

Sounds like you need a 25 Tempest Plus or maybe that 25" Turning Point Boatman's been talking 'bout. My experience with the Laser II's is one of slippage. Still, sounds like you've got her rollin' good!! Good job!

Time to update this thread

I installed dual cable steering (much better:thumb:)
As far as speed, I last posted 69.6 mph at 6450 rpm way to much slip
I now have the plate adjusted better and have complete control of my mate'
I dont have a speed # yet but it feels much faster and am down to 6200 rpm. I am thinking low 70's and aiming for mid 70's.

Thats pretty good.:bounce:

If you run mid 70's mine must have been very close to 80. Get some GPS # Im very curious. I know there are some people here that doubted my boat was nearly as fast as I claimed, but I know... that thing went like a mofo:D

I really want to try a 27-28P Hoss. I know the LaserII I have is not the fastest prop for me.

Boston, are you refering to your Predictor? What prop did you run and what rpms?

Well the predictor was fast but I only got to run it with that 25p I sold you, and I didnt have a jackplate either. The sportfire had a jackplate and I got to mess with some props too so that was definitely the faster of the two. The fastest prop I tried was a labed 28p Hoss at about 6000rpm. That was a fun little boat:thumb:

I remember you said you had some work done to your 150. How much HP did it have? Just to compare to mine, remember it is a very low hour Xr2 with great compression which was thought to be rated originally at 165-175hp according to some over at S&F. I am just wonering if I could spin a 28P. How was yours out the hole.

Not sure how much HP it had but It should have been close to 200 if not more with all the work that was done to it. It was a dog out of the hole however because it was built for top end power. Right before I bought that engine I was bidding on a mint Xr2 from FL and lost at the last min.
I would try a 28 if I were you. If you dont see the RPM's your looking for you could always trade it for a 26 or something on S&F.

I really wish I still had my old Frankenmerc. That little engine would have been a riot on a Viper or my Sutphen.:cheers

Today there was a 28P (allison cut) Chopper waiting for me by my front door.
New speed numbers soon to come. I hope

I have no idea who cut it but it looks great. I am going to try to try it out tomarrow. I still have no nose cone and am going to need to run 3" below that pad.
