OPTIMA Batteries???

SCT

Well-known member
I've been looking at batteries for my new Pulsare. Is anyone running the new Optima gel cell batteries in their boats? Is it worth the extra money? Does it crank the motor as good as they claim? Any other problems? I'll be cranking a 3.0L Mercury.

Thanx for the input,

SCT

Consumer Reports tested them, didn't have the power of the standard cell good brands.

whats nice about the optima gel batteries is they are sealed and it has alot more reserve power than a standard cell. you can mount them any way you want. i have a yellow top in my truck now. i first purchased it for an extra batt. for my sound system 8 years ago. sure they may not have the"cold cranking power" of a standard cell... but mine has been one hell of a battery. it has never gone dead. im a fan.

well it depends on wich size you have. my yellow top is 42 pounds. theres more lead in the gel batteries that a standard.
