Outboard Engine Update....

Older Chrysler 85HP outboard.....

Brought a battery / jumper cables down to the boat yard. With a lil' work, I was able to find out that it is not seized, it has spark....

Must have pretty decent compression because when the plugs are in, its having a hard time turning over, even when connected via jumper cables to my car's engine.

Any ideas? My next attempt was goign to try and spray some starter fluid in each spark plug hole and then try to start it up.

What would be making it so hard to turn over? Too long of jumper cables?

Bring a can of mixed fuel with you. May even be worth it to buy a portable can and the primer bulb and a hose clamp. With this you can attach for fresh pre-mix and then crank her over. Starting fluid is not real good for 2 strokes as there is no lubricating properties in it.

It has a hell of a time turning over when the plugs are in...

If you take out all 3 plugs, it will chug all day......

Any ideas why the pressure is so strong, its hard to turn over?

Bad starter, bad wiring, dry cylinders, or all three at once.....................
